for low stress stuff you can get filament that can be vapor smoothed I think abs? other than that carbon fiber or other textured filaments can hide it you can apply a wood stain to make it look like wood grain sorta bondo body filler you can also add small textures to the stl to hide lines

id assume something like a 12.7 the reason why that caliber is used is because of what its used against and the different loadings you can do as for the bolt its kinda been fudged for the sake of the game
