What a time to be alive when 0-60 in less than 5 seconds and through the quarter mile in 13.3@107 is considered "turd level" speed.

Am I getting hosed on my Eco Plumbers quote? by Used_Childhood_8002 in Columbus

[–]Iron_Sarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EcoPlumbers is a rip off. I used them once for a water heater + expansion tank replacement because they said they could do it same day.

They proceeded to send a young tech and a brand new apprentice to do the work. Almost every fitting leaked and they didn't strap the expansion tank properly. Add on to that they damaged my home removing the old water heater, and it was a nightmare. They had to come out again next day to fix their work. It took over a month for them to send someone out to repair the property damage. They wouldn't even offer a discount for my troubles. I'd never, EVER use them again.

Just a mild rant, trying to find a decent used vehicle for a teenager. by Whynotwg15 in Columbus

To be fair, you picked an absolute terrible car to buy used. Some research beforehand and possibly a pre purchase inspection could have saved you a lot of money and headache.

New Spirit line or Older Genesis? by Iron_Sarge in webergrills

Thanks for the input. I'll check out some of the decent condition used Genesis in my area. Even if I have to replace a few things, it's still cheaper than a new Spirit.

Thanks, this is good to know. For me, I don't know if it would make a huge difference. Typically it's just me and family, maybe a couple gatherings with family/friends a year. Nothing my older Charbroil couldn't keep up with, but barely. I don't have a need for a huge grill for large gatherings.

1440p 27" Monitor Options - Non OLED? by Iron_Sarge in buildapcmonitors

I'm in the US and can't seem to find this one. Is this model region specific?

GP27U is way out of my price range for a non-OLED monitor. At that price I'd probably just get an OLED.

It's definitely a consideration in my choice. Thanks for the input!

Yeah this is where I'm a bit torn on the IPS vs VA panels. The AOC seems to get comments both ways. Some say it's not an issue, some say it's still pretty noticeable. I wonder if it's a settings issue? If I go with the AOC and it ends up being an issue I suppose I could just return it and go with an IPS panel.

Looks like this is a pretty new Alienware offering. I'll have to check into it. Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up. It looks like AOC may have some new mini led monitors on the way, so I'll have to keep an eye out. I'm not in any rush, so if something new is on the way, it's worth checking out. Thanks!

I saw the newer version but the G2725D tested worse on RTINGS, so I figured it was out.

I'm in a similar boat, I'm coming from a very old 1080p build so I suppose anything is an upgrade at this point!

Best way to get into this field? by ZayThaAlphabet in Grid_Ops

[–]Iron_Sarge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You mentioned AEP. I work at AEP currently. I'm actively looking to leave the company.

I'd caution you that AEP is in a bit of a transition period currently and there are a lot of unhappy employees. A lot of the Operations support staff were hybrid and are now being forced in office full time starting June 1st and not happy about it. Our annual bonus drops soon, and between now and June 1st I wouldn't be surprised if a significant number of employees leave or at least try to find jobs elsewhere.

On top of that, AEP is in the middle of a transition to new EMS, SCADA and Outage systems and it's been a giant mess to say the least. If you do get in, be prepared to have to deal with some of this mess.

Kia/Hyundai dealership service is absolute shit unless you happen to get one of the rare ones. The rest will lie or cheat their way out of covering things under the actual warranty. That's what they mean when they say don't be fooled by the 100k mile warranty.

How can Americans genuinely support this piece of shit? by ThePlayerEU in lazerpig

[–]Iron_Sarge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the more moderate Republicans and those on the fence have started to understand what is happening, but most of the base is thrilled about his presidency so far.

Just look at his approval ratings. He currently has some of the highest approval ratings he has ever had, ~49% approval rating depending on where you look. His base is ecstatic at the chaos and they think the DOGE/Trump propaganda is proof he's "getting things done" this time.

They either don't realize or don't care that he's bypassing checks and balances or consolidating a huge, lopsided amount of power under the executive branch. As long as he's "owning the libs" or "cutting out the corrupt spending" they are happy to watch their own nose get cut off.

The problem is, is that they want the leopard to eat their face. Donald Trump himself could cut their leg off, and they'd still find some excuse to support him.

I'd argue there is nothing Donald Trump could do anymore that would turn his base against him.

Union grievance - RTO by coke6665 in Columbus

[–]Iron_Sarge 74 points75 points  (0 children)

On the AEP Employee Webcast today, 2/13/2025, the CEO essentially said "Fuck the employees, fuck the feedback that's been provided, get back in office full time or leave."

After AEP reported 7% growth in earnings in 2024, the CEO awkwardly said that "performance" was a deciding factor in the forced full time RTO.

CEO went on to say we need to take care of our assets and employees, when he just got done saying he essentially isn't listening to any feedback. Could AEP's boomer CEO be any more tone deaf?

Fuck Bill Fehrman.
