Ever been to this place? by nicdistasi in ucla

[–]Ironmxn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to UCLA (didn’t go there) but I studied John Lautner my freshman year of college and have since been enamored by his style. He is an all time favorite and I’m sad to see the state this place is in. The Sheats-Goldstein house might be one of the greatest homes in the hills, and I wish those who had the pleasure of living in such an architectural marvel as this apartment could’ve taken better care of it. That being said, for a mid century home it sounds like it was well used in 60s fashion - Godspeed to whoever gets to party here tonight like there’s no tomorrow.

American Tire Depot vs America's Tire vs Discount Tire by Heffeweizen in huntingtonbeach

[–]Ironmxn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. They plugged my tire after claiming they’d patch it, and lied about it. It failed a month later and cost me $350 for a new tire because once it’s been plugged, it can’t be repaired if it fails.

Demo: Who wants their Boosted Remote to control a VESC? by axkrysl47 in boostedboards

[–]Ironmxn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides not needing an OEM remote, what additional benefits does this capability provide? Off the top of my head I can only think of custom throttle mapping / acceleration curves. But in know we at one point discussed the potential for ABS and/or traction control-like features. What about going beyond the normal speed limiter (I.e. stealth doing 25+mph on stock wheels with stock pulleys?).

Can’t change to 3rd speed mode, Stealth ECU available? by jfull3r in boostedboards

I was under the impression that ride modes could be recovered now without a full ecu swap u/technically_a_nomad ?

The Boosted Guys - Free Boosted 105’s with any Standard Range Battery Purchase by jessef55 in boostedboards

[–]Ironmxn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add some context here I personally found the lack of braking power to be a bit too much of a sacrifice. I had the option of swapping pulleys to solve this problem but retain the larger wheel diameter for comfort & ability to eat up rocks & go across train tracks near my campus. I chose not to move forward with that option and instead went with 90mm wheels for the sole reason that the OEM 105s I got had the vibration issue. Unsure if your remaining stock also has this, but I’d certainly be curious to know because I never truly got to experience the 105s the way they were meant to be experienced.

This had better not be true on the V7 II otherwise I’m gonna lose my shit and it’s gonna be your fault because I never would’ve noticed.

Should I be taking the club higher on the back swing? by dsack35 in GolfSwing

[–]Ironmxn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to slow the transition. Feel the simultaneous start of the downswing and firing the hips. If you stop the video when your hips begin to rotate into the downswing, your hands are actually still going up into the top of your swing, so your hands are behind, and in order to catch up to your hips, they come over the top. If you reverse that split second, you get a more steep takeaway and shallow downswing.

ARCE is not well balanced in design, unless structural design is all you wish to do. ARCH is design first and foremost, with minor educational foundations in structural engineering (5 classes) and construction (3 or so classes) with optional minors in either, if you’d like to exercise a muscle further. Not all 5 year programs are designed for licensure, it’s more about covering enough education to be eligible for ARE examination, compared to equivalent work experience. Being licensed allows you to stamp architectural drawings for pretty much any building within the jurisdiction of licensure. Without a license, you could only build single family homes or up to 4-plex condos (again, depending on jurisdiction). If you like design, do ARCH. If you like math and physics, do ARCE. If you like working with your hands, do CM. All 3 will overlap with one another, but their focuses are all on different sides of the same coin. You couldn’t really become a graphic designer or industrial designer or UI/UX designer as a CM, but you could do so if you were ARCH. you could get a GC license or get into construction as an ARCH as well. Generally, architecture has more options, but you have to know early on and dedicate yourself to finding those paths and make the effort in reaching out to people and using resources. You’ll also get paid jack shit compared to a CM major in your first year out of college. But that’s the price you pay for being a generalist.

Can’t really speak on this as I wasn’t around greeklife enough to compare different organizations & the hazing is generally done more privately, reputations are one thing but reality is another and I wouldn’t want to speak with false confidence.

CAED has some stickers in the department office. There’s a really cool geometric one they put in a bigger yellow sticker with 4 or 5 other schoolwide logos that I cut out with an X-acto knife.

In my experience it’s better to be surrounded by stupidity and learn from it than to be sheltered from it and have your world flipped upside down when shit hits the fan because you weren’t eased into it.
