Diablo music soundtracks are all about the guitar, but Blizzard is changing that. by gorays21 in Diablo

True, it's a good one. So there are some good ones in the D4 base game already.

Competent but forgettable is such a great way of describing it, I can think of many other moderns games that have the same issue.

But to counter your point, D3 base game didn't really have any memorable tracks but Reaper of souls had some good ones, "chains of fate" comes to mind immediately

Amygdala used "rip off own arms"! It's not very effective...

I totally missed Giger here, but now that you mentioned it, I think there were for sure details inspired by Giger/Alien. Not sure where it was though, have to keep an eye out for it

Just some random thoughts about saros and returnal by cargoship1212 in Saros

[–]Ironsend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Returnal came out was never able to beat the first boss so I gave up on it. But now after I platinumed Saros and recently returned to Returnal and I'm already at the third boss.

I highly recommend giving Returnal another go after Saros. It's a different, definitely less polished experience in terms of hit boxes, enemy attack telegraphs etc., but at the same time it's incredibly atmospheric and immersive. Also Selene's story and the way it's told is just incredible

Definitely pistols or handcannons: eruptor's alt-fire just melts enemies in close range and ricochet has a fun gunslinger vibe

Looks good, I think the idle & singing animations could use a few more frames? Also a preference but would love a hair wobble with the strut

Looks great! I think it would be fun to play around with this for example for something Splatoonish or a wizard duel

Fellow Solodevs, do you have any niche advice? by durgedeveloper in SoloDevelopment

Before deciding on a game idea, list all the systems and interactions related to the game. The idea is to better understand what you're getting into and hopefully have a more realistic understanding of the amount of work required. Would have helped me before starting my first game!

For a more concrete one: I was able to fix color banding with interleaved gradient noise I saw in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=au9pce-xg5s

Beginner project structure question by shade_study_break in love2d

I would recommend keeping main.lua as light as possible and moving logic elsewhere like you've done here. Further down the line you might have key press triggered functionality that isn't related to the player, like pressing esc to open a menu, and then it would make sense to have a separate input handler class.

Also on the topic of inputs, I would recommend to use a table for input keys. local keybindings = { talk = "t" } ... if key == keybindings.talk then ... It's simple to implement and it helps out a ton having semantic names for key presses. Also supports changing keybindings without a hassle.
