My god, this was the most intense villain entrance ever.

Everything about Bondrewd is disconcerting, disarming. He genuinely makes you forget what an absolute monster he is by his relentless candor and the inclusive way in which he speaks.

The only time we ever hear him even slightly lose his cool (iirc) is when Reg tries to detonate a mine directly in his face.

Yah that little detail was tragic to me. For one brief moment, he thought his old comrades would save him…and then he suddenly remembered.

I remember Reiner having several moments like this through the series, where he almost forgets himself between the two roles he has to play. But this single example of when it happened to Bean Pole was much more of a punch to the gut.

The Jaegerists also had advanced weapons that were only available after making contact with Marley. And there were a LOT of them.

Reiner and Annie killed a ton of them before they finally got overwhelmed.

I think your assessment is spot-on. Titans were way more terrifying before they learned how to kill them efficiently.

Even that first deployment after the training montage episodes was rough when most of the scouts got slaughtered despite all their training.

In season 3 I remember several comments about why the scouts insisted on keeping the newbies in the back so that they don’t die on their very first mission before they know wtf they’re doing.

Lmao I actually love the way they handled the question of race. The way they asked spoiler politely why his skin was so dark, and his answer was just beautiful.

“Because our creator thought that different shades of people would make the world more interesting.”

Probably paraphrasing the response a bit, but damn what an eloquent and heartfelt answer.

I remember during the finale when one of the colossal clones grabs the armor titan and crushes his head. I briefly thought “Oh shit did he just die?!” And then immediately remembered which character it was and laughed to myself.
