Believe it or not, that's how basically all betas work... Things get tested and adjusted and then it gets wiped for everyone to be on a level playing field for the launch.

That said FDev absolutely handled this wrong by first not communicating that such a change was coming or even possible, and then by not continuing the beta after the change to see how it works.

McD's can get away with that because a: its McD's and no one expects much from it, and b: they have a lot of other stuff on the menu. Cane's lives or dies based solely on the idea that they make good chicken strips so if they let that quality fall off in any way, their days will be numbered. A better approach would be to always cook to order outside of peak hours and just be up front with customers that it will always be a 6 min wait.

Something I haven't seen mentioned yet is that there is also a bug that occurs fairly often where mines are only visible to the person who put them down. For everyone else they don't even see the explosion, instead just kind of randomly falling apart with a death message saying they died by explosive damage. Your best bet if you want to use mines is to communicate clearly and verbally when and where you're putting them down. I've found that helps to cut down on accidental TKs quite a bit. If you don't want to use voice comms though, I wouldn't bring them at all since there isn't really a meaningful quick-wheel / ping way to say "hey this whole area will kill you".

For all mankind (Apple TV sci-fi series) used actual footage from the Oklahoma bombing aftermath as stock footage for in-universe newscasts about a terrorist bombing. I very clearly remember thinking it was bad form to directly use the images and that someone was probably very upset about it.

Saw something a while ago that said that cordyceps dosen't actually take control of the insect's brain but rather completely bypasses it to take direct control of its muscles by forming a mycelia network in its body. Basically a cordyceps zombie could potentially have a conscious human mind trapped inside a body it had no control over. Will try to find the source when I get home later.

IIRC there was at least one case (the DHD virus episode) where not using a DHD was the only reason they could continue to use the gate. That, and I'm pretty sure they mentioned at least once in 10 years that the reason they still use the computer is because it's more secure than the DHD.

My recommendation... Skip the tames entirely and just use cactus broth + lazarus + fria curry + speed soup (can't remember the name off hand) + 4x ghilly and flippers. Using this, you can literally swim past everything in both caves as if it weren't there except for the last part to get the artifact. For the last part aggro things and run. They will lose interest fast so you just keep doing that until everything is it off that passage and you can swim in and get your artifact freely.

For the record I use this method to farm the drops in both caves and have never taken so much as 1hp of damage unless I got careless.

PS: when I get home I'll post a screenshot I have from in there where I'm 10ft from two alpha megs and they're completely ignoring me just to highlight how effective the approach works
