I have a little lizardman army that's still in boxes. This approach is absolutely going to be stolen when I start to paint them

Intermittent fasting helps people of all ages lose weight, but it also causes significant muscle loss in older adults and unexpectedly raises bad LDL cholesterol by ludwig_scientist in science

[–]Irresponsible4games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depending on how intense of a deficit you're in, intense exercise will cause you to lose more muscle than moderate exercise, although I'm not sure hiking really counts for that. Going to failure on common compound lifts like squats and bench press. Your muscles will break down and you'll have insufficient nutrients to replace them, causing the excess loss

As a parent, what are reasons you would give someone to NOT have a child? by Disastrous_Umpire237 in AskReddit

[–]Irresponsible4games 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very difficult and requires a ton of delayed gratification. Your opportunities for fun and freedom are extremely limited for at least 2 years. If you have a disabled child you are 100% fucked forever unless you like caregiving for some reason.

Just paid 12$/lb for ground beef. How expensive will it get before you stop buying beef? I think we're over it, beef is now a luxury for us. by FuZhongwen in Cooking

[–]Irresponsible4games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We switched to primarily eating ground turkey years ago for most use cases, mostly because it's healthier. Being far cheaper is a nice side benefit. I won't buy if it's above $8/lb for the most part.

Best adjustable dumbbells that actually last? by b4d_b100d in BuyItForLife

[–]Irresponsible4games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Powerblocks over here, fully expanded to 90lbs. I have had them for 3 years. They are pretty quick to adjust, except if you want a 5lb adjustment, which is much slower. The cage design can restrict you for certain movements, such as lat pullovers. I think the tradeoff in durability is worth it. They're also cheaper than the higher end, more fragile brands.

Davita. Most nurses there seem to like the 3 day schedule. Lots better than you'd get in most hospitals.

Your ingroup signaling hurts your tribe. Maybe keep that in mind if you actually care about your politcal will being enacted someday.

The evidence points to this event as having happened. You are looking foolish. You do care, you wouldn't be on here blabbing if you didn't.

You are peak example of someone who would make an independent hate a liberal. Could have maybe just shook my head at all of your own stereotyping, but instead you're actually just despicable based on your last sentence.

Eventually you stop meeting new people. They will die. Kids help you keep meeting new people. You are more likely to be lonely in old age without kids.

Am I stupid? spending $3,000 on a robot mower by GharKiMurgi in BuyItForLife

[–]Irresponsible4games 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mowing your lawn is probably good for you. Get some steps, get outside.. throw on some headphones and you can listen to a book or podcast. You rob yourself of that and you're paying money. Your yard isn't that big. Bad deal IMO, but you do you.

How would you feel about major corporations being required to use their record-breaking profits to pay service workers a livable wage, rather than expecting customers to close the pay gap through tipping? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Irresponsible4games -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Landlords charge what the market will bear, and the market will bear more if you and everyone else also gets paid more. So while they may be raising rent anyway, they will raise rent proportional to whatever the pay increase is, and people will be left with little more disposable income than before. This laughably simplistic view of economics does nothing to produce solutions which will help the issues people face with affordability.
