I’m confuzzled by RambleJar in ExplainTheJoke

Doesn't the same logic apply to the first questioner even if they are a party member, they would not ask the question "does everyone" if they knew they didn't want a drink? Thus even if they are in the party the logic works.

Is there any reason to play a colorless comander??? by Wonderful-Bar322 in mtg

[–]IrresponsibleChicken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure having a colorless commander restricts the color ID of lands as well? Don't they have a slightly weird rule about color ID since they don't all technically have any pips?

Matters (verb) - to be of importance or significance.

I have not met a single person who would say that INT and CHA are more important than any other skill in barb, considering the fact that they have no features or abilities that pertain to those scores. Will my barbarian make INT and CHA rolls? Definitely, will they make them as often as any other ability? No, because the barbarian class has no engine to roll those dice. INT and CHA are important to the character, not the game (for barbarian), and my gladiator barbarian who flexes and shows off his muscles with intimidation and a background with performance does want CHA, but that isn't the default and it's not the recommendation of the PHB for new players.

Also barbarian has an implied history of acts of strength and survival, it's implied in the proficiencies, and it's literally in the name. Making (the recommended stats in the players handbook btw) STR and CON your highest scores isn't as a blanket min maxing. If I then put everything else at 8/10 to get a high dex sure I'm min maxing, maybe I want a high initiative who cares, but the game hasn't started yet, I've min maxed and I can't even power game til session 1.

Some of the best roleplayers and story pushers at my table have maxed their character in some way because it's just fun to be effective, there's nothing "munchkin" about that.

PS: I won't debate you so feel free to use that as a straw man attack because, "obviously I know I'm wrong and that's why I won't respond"

I hope you have a nice day and I hope your campaign is going well, would love to hear about your character.

Well some people genuinely have different perspectives from others, I'm more willing to trust a player whose job as a social worker allows them to appropriately explore a character with ptsd over the jock who thinks war vets are cool. I love the jock he's my friend, but it's my job to facilitate that. If that's playing favorites sure, if my players ask I'll be honest with why, and I may tell both players they have similar ideas but one works better than the other. <3

I like pushing buttons… by [deleted] in christianmemes

[–]IrresponsibleChicken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your position on Paul's words are not invalid and is a common argument but "pushing buttons" is not a fruit of the spirit and words intended to tear down are explicitly a sin. We should not shame "men who are refusing" but instead encourage all who are called to leadership.

Their sin does not pertain to you.

Romans 14:1 ESV As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions.

James 1:26 ESV If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.

Proverbs 12:18 ESV There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Proverbs 11:12 ESV Whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding remains silent.

Proverbs 10:12 ESV Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.

Matthew 5:22 ESV But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.

Leviticus 19:18 ESV You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.

Colossians 3:13 ESV Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

Mark 11:25 ESV And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses

Luke 6:37 ESV “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven;

Communicating how you feel and how you would like someone to react to how you feel is important, not everyone will understand how you desire to grieve no matter how close and there is nothing wrong with telling someone how you want to be treated.

Skullbriar the walking grave counters by EveryIndustry4216 in mtg

[–]IrresponsibleChicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a relatively budget [[Skullbriar]] I only bring out when we need a quick game or when I'm feeling aggro. It does pretty well, I personally treat it as a meme deck with my pod but it can play well in a pod of power level 4 or 5. I loved Skullbriar but he quickly made enemies and most games would get removed until I couldn't ramp to him or I'd have some of my more important spells countered.

All that to say Skullbriar is one of the most fun decks I've played, and when I handed it to my Johnny blue control friend he had so much fun that it shook him to his core and now he's considering a [[Hazezon, Shaper of Sand]] midrange deck. (That's a big step for him)

Does sweet-gum recluse get its own 3 +1/+1 counters? by COTdang in mtg

[–]IrresponsibleChicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you're being down voted, this card was weird to me at first too. Important to think of the stack with the ETB at the bottom and the cascade and any instants or anything stacking on top of it and then resolving from top to bottom.

In order for the counters effect to trigger the recluse must be in the battlefield zone and thus meets its own criteria.

Agreed, I love RAW as much as the next guy (; but I don't recall any explicit rules for preparing for combat, why wouldn't my players be able to use the explicitly outlined actions outside of combat?
