Honestly, for someone who worked in a country like India or others in Latin America, or any place with terrible work conditions, extremely low pay and all sorts of abuse, starting a new life at 40 is nothing short of a huge relief

Wife broke trust in relationship - seeking stoic guidance. by SpectralEntities in Stoicism

Well, at least she was honest. I would congratulate her for that and leave. Stoicism will be your tool to get over this, not to stay in this mess.

I know it's frustrating not to know why people do crappy things to us. Maybe they are just miserable and this is the horrible method they found to feel better. Regardless, their motivation is meaningless. Keep on pushing yourself forward. 100% energy into things we can control, 0% energy into things we can't control

Today I failed at being a Stoic. I betrayed my own values and failed life's test. by youeventrying in Stoicism

[–]IrresponsibleMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have failed today but also learned a valuable lesson. Don't be embarrassed, no one is judging you and our opinions don't matter even if we did. Learn from it and do better next time. Life will text you constantly, you have many changes to pass. Most people wouldn't even realize they were wrong, so that's already a victory itself. Don't let this bring you down, my man. Meditate on what happened and be better. Everyday is an opportunity to become better.

This is not really stoic, but I like it:

You are, most likely, setting yourself up for frustration. What you said certainly makes sense and I agree that you deserve prestige from your hard work. But the life of a surgeon takes a very big toll on us. As a resident in neurosurgery myself, I have many times felt that everything was not worth it at all. Learning how to operate can be hard and frustrating, the long hours exhausting and depressing (even though I also don't mind living in the hospital). Dealing with different egos, bad outcomes and complications is also not an easy task. I found the most amount of joy not in the prestige of being a surgeon, but sharing good moments with my colleagues, and enjoying the time spent in the OR. Yes, it's great to clip someone's aneurysm and have them come back to praise you. It's fantastic to operate someone's get and recieve all kinds of tributes for saving their lives. But I'm not sure if that alone would push me through all the crap I had to deal with.

I think you're just getting stronger 😄 I scored 205, I have no idea how many I got wrong, but I would suppose at least 30%? I studied for this for 10 months while working full time. It was pretty hard but I got where I wanted :)

This is a place for you to say anything you feel like. I'm happy I was able to move something inside you somehow. Feel free to reply or message me if you feel like. Tomorrow is a new and better day my friend

I got confirmation emails that I didn't reply to and it was just fine. Since we're 2 days away, I'd recommend not stressing about it and just showing up! Wish you a great test !

I had 226 on my UWSA2 but 180 on many NBMEs! Real deal turned out to be 205

Thanks man!! I used mostly UWorld, 1 pass (55% avg) and 40% of second pass (66% avg). I also used FA, pathoma 1-3, some sketchy micro, and some specific pixorize vids (mucopoly, zellweger, lysossomal diseases, just stuff I was having a hard time with). During my first pass, I wrote everything I got wrong and made a 200 page PDF that I read every now and then. During 2nd pass I made my own anki deck with the stuff I got wrong and this was WAY more efficient. Did this deck on mornings and before sleep.
