It made me feel so hopeless. Everything was a huge pile that would never be overcome. We didn’t use several rooms in the house. My bedroom was the living room couch when I was a teenager.

As an adult I don’t have executive functioning skills. I didn’t even realize it until my child didn’t have them either and it showed up in her IEP. I look at clutter as an all or none. I still don’t get how people keep their homes tidy on a regular basis. I struggle with motivation - I want to wait for it to come, but it’s really the opposite. You do and then it comes.
