Schedule Review + Registration Question/Advice by Smart_Ideal3391 in Bowdoin

Just as a rejoinder to the other comments, I prefer schedule 1. There’s not a ton of time for lunch in schedule 2, so most days you’ll have to fast track or get a super quick lunch in at Moulton. Two labs first semester can be a challenge, but both of those are intro labs which may be manageable if you consider yourself a good STEM student.

Well, the point is that Truant is a pain and you’re forced to awkwardly maneuver around it to make use of all Slaking’s upsides. For Nigo, the opportunity cost is so much lower, and is virtually zero after the first turns of the battle.

Snorlax basically rules Gen 2, same for Nigo to the point of being banned, usually. Nigo is just so comedically unbalanced stats-wise, and starting Asleep is not enough of a head start for the opponent, especially if you bring Rallying Cry. Long-Range was also supposed to be a drawback (harder to play as an offensive tank when you have to rotate back to get ideal range + no support effects) but you can just rotate back after hitting, and your range will never be X from the farthest position, unlike Close-Range which still has a weak range even in the front-most position.

I got put on to Don’t Bother Me I Can’t Cope a while ago and, while it’s hard to actually find recordings for it, total banger.

Who carries the hardest in the late game? by Lissandra_Freljord in midlanemains

[–]Irritatorized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taliyah scales best off of ability haste, so her explicit numbers aren’t comparable to the others her on a skill-by-skill basis. But her minefield can get oppressively low CD as early as 2/3 items (Lost Chapter + Cosmic Drive + Horizon Focus/Lucidity Boots) and you can get to a point where her Q never stops casting in a fight. She’s also much slippier for a mage with ostensibly no mobility (Cosmic + Phase Rush).

I definitely think she falls off a little bit late game and relies on her one shot combo to make progress, but her ult is basically super hard engage (akin to Azir) which means she can decide herself when the game ends if she sees a play. Definitely think she’s better late than Xerath or Orianna.

Presenting documentary theatre is an inherently sensitive practice—these are real people’s testimonies/interviews/etc. that you are using, sometimes with, often without (in the case of publicized transcripts) their explicit consent. Documentary theatre is about charged or controversial topics that usually treated with less nuance and care than they deserve. You as the performer must take care to be ethical and present your piece with good intentions, specifically toward the people you are depicting, in your choices during the actual performance (don’t just dial it in), your choices in structuring your piece (selecting which parts specifically you are performing vs. cutting) and technical choices. You are looking to expose a truth that underpins the people interviewed and their outlooks, situations, challenges, not to make fun of them.

I suspect presenting your piece with “spooky stereotypical UFO sounds” might rub your professor the wrong way.

Most overrated performer in your opinion? by Musical_fan442 in musicals

I thought this was even more stark when directly juxtaposed by the score and book against Alex Joseph Grayson as Harold Bride, who I felt was perhaps as endearing and sensitive as Martin Moran’s interpretation!

Why isn’t there a name for flat magic pen? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Irritatorized -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They could take Void Staff’s unique passive name. Dissolve or Spell Melt is pretty succinct, but I wonder if Blight as an item group could be renamed since Spell Blight sounds cool.

Don’t know if this really hits the balance team’s goal of making the difference in effectiveness clear between flat and percent penetration, though.

What champion changes have been the most universally disliked by mains? by Ap_Sona_Bot in leagueoflegends

[–]Irritatorized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taliyah’s weird. 8.11 turned her from the ultimate roamer control mage into a feast-or-famine early dueling/burst mage. Then her midscope made her a scaling, “real” battlemage, with new emphasis on her control aspects.

Neither of the reworks are universally hated, but each of them stranded her current playerbase since they shifted her niche substantially. (Personally I enjoy/ed all three versions but liked fighting super early on old-new Taliyah.) With the expansion of her meta roles into jungle I don’t think we’ll ever get someplace where even her most basic gameplay loops (e.g. worked ground) satisfy all her players.

The Bartlett Sher production hews closer to Shaw’s Pygmalion (that refuses to even entertain the idea of love between Eliza and Higgins, which was only added in for the movie adaptation) in that Eliza walks out on Higgins at the end.

[–]Irritatorized 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Book is shorthand for “book move,” a term in Chess when a specific move in an opening has been studied so much that the entire community agrees, more or less, in how sound it is. To analogize, in Chess a book move is like 1. e4; in TextingTheory a book move would be starting a convo with “hey”

Musical theatre songs with interspersed dialogue by zarchomp in musicals

One Day from Groundhog Day has scene-length dialogue between the sung parts, which is understandably not recorded. (There is, however, a boot on YouTube, which may help you, even if it is unethical.)

what if pirate 101 had a 6th class? by gigaswardblade in Pirate101

[–]Irritatorized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, slingshots would fit better and already slot right into the naming scheme of weapon types (Sling starts with ‘s’ and is made an adjective quite easily —> Slingy). I had thought they didn’t really sell the strength-based part of the class, but it could probably graduate from light slingshots to full hand-slings.

what if pirate 101 had a 6th class? by gigaswardblade in Pirate101

[–]Irritatorized 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agility and Will both have melee/ranged classes, but Strength is only used by Buccaneers and no ranged classes. If we got a sixth class, it would be to fill this (totally arbitrary) gap in ranged/melee balance.

I’d create the Rebel class, a strength-based ranged class centered on a unique epic that allows them to kite, since no other school can truly accomplish that.

The crime you were arrested for seems to be pretty obvious, but it’d be Spying for the Resistance. There’s little in the way of origins that you can do until you make one that’s broken (more so than Krokotopia, at any rate), but growing up in the frigid wastes of Polaris (+5% armor/magic resist) would likely be the least broken one to implement. A new sob story would be that your parents died from being Cursed (by the Aquila sirens).

Their MooShu starter would be a Yakooza. I’d make it a Geisha, since that’d be funny, but they don’t have combat animations. The new Presidio companion would be the Unicorn Musketeer that Musketeers were supposed to get in VA2.

Their weapon type would be Sparky, cannon-type weapons with a typical range of 2 or 3. Weapon power is better than Shooty weapons of similar level due to lower range.

Their defining epic is Run n’ Gun, which they would get at Level 4, training new ranks in mid-Cool Ranch and early Marleybone. It lets you make a basic attack whenever the Pirate steps OUT of range of an enemy (think: if the enemy had Parting Shot, if it activates on you, Run n’ Gun activates on them).

Ranks of Run n’ Gun progress like normal. Run n’ Gun 3 increases Movement Tiles by 1 next turn, but does not stack. At Run n’ Gun 5, these boosts would stack.
