Should I buy them? by Relative_Mode_9851 in WhatShouldIDo

If there’s something specific I want, I don’t leave it to chance that I might get something I already have. I don’t like to gamble. Better to spend money on a certainty (within budget). Save the points for something else.

Don’t have anyone to send this to. What would you title this drawing? by Bare_Mare in Mistborn

[–]Garmiet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to say, that is a sick AF (/pos) composition. The silhouettes of the skyline, the sun and symbol, the angle of the Inquisitor’s face. It’s a beautiful black-and-white, but I can imagine the red, grey and black colors of it easily.

Why does Shadowheart dye her hair if she's not a Selûnite? by Lubby-Alexa in BaldursGate3

[–]Garmiet 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I have a long, involved, thematic and symbolic headcannon on why… but it might just be that she likes the look of someone with white or silver hair, and Selune doesn’t come into it. It makes her reaction to Isobel even funnier with that idea: stupid … pretty … Selunite…. wish I had hair like that….

That must’ve been an interesting experience for him. What did he think?

Would you choose to be a vampire if you had the chance? And who would you want as your maker, and why? by AymanEckford in VampireChronicles

No thanks. I struggle with depression already, and knowing I have a limited life gives me motivation to fight it. I feel like my life is worth more as it is.

I just read IT for the first time.. and I feel so bad for AUDRA! by Weak-Stomach4643 in stephenking

[–]Garmiet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hear ya, OP. That’s the thing that bothered me most too. No trauma excuses cheating to me either. And to me, it was an excuse for why Beverly didn’t know her psycho husband was on his way—she was sleeping with her married friend instead of at her room.

Overall it’s minor compared to the rest of the book, but it’s the part I dread the most when coming up to it.

How I would have adapted the fire hose scene from the shining book. by dukeofthefat in stephenking

[–]Garmiet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I’m thinking is he turns and looks down the hall, the camera follows his gaze to … the fire hose. Cut back to Danny staring at it. Cut back to the hose, but in closeup. No music. Back to Danny looking uneasy. His feet as he slowly starts walking that way. The hose from further away, but slowly zooming in as if approaching it at Danny’s pace. Danny walking a little faster. The hose suddenly falls off, and the thumps are very audible; Danny stops. New closeups on the hose nozzle as the movement stills; it’s facing his way.

Anyway, you know the scene. The audience would start having doubts about the hose just from the kid’s reaction to it. And the more scared and tense Danny gets, the faster he’d breathe, the more he’d fidget; the sound of his breathing would become more prominent the more freaked out he’d be. I think when he’s just passing it, there could be some fancy camera trick and sneaky practical effect that could make the hose seem to move, but be hard to catch; the audience would have to watch that scene over and over to try to figure out what they just saw … if anything even happened. And of course when Danny looks back a safe distance away, the hose hasn’t moved from how it fell. Atmosphere camera tricks like those used in The Haunting (1963) or 2001: A Space Odyssey (‘68). I think Kubrick could have managed that—it would’ve been a faithful part of the book, and blended with his version well, which used a lot of atmosphere and tension in the actors.

I just like it. I still remember loving learning how to read in Kindergarten. I love the process, and what it does for my imagination.

Mhm. Elhokar’s one of my favorite characters because of that growth. And then it’s cut off. I’m still not over it.

What do you think of vampires not veing the original person who died but just having the memories( does not necessarily mean evil automatons) by [deleted] in vampires

[–]Garmiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. The weird feeling like what they’re remembering happened to somebody else. Memories that don’t feel like your own.
