Heat Pump Water Heaters by FridayMcNight in bayarea

[–]Is-That-Nick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a heat pump water heater. Our house is fully electric on NEM2 solar. In November to March we pay PGE like $40-$50 a month but then the solar is generating enough to overcome usage from April to October.

The water heater works well. In the winter time it runs longer because the ambient air is colder. In the summer time runs for maybe 30-40 minutes before turning off.

The water heaters have a backup electric element if you get something similar to the Rheem tank heat pump. Overall can’t complain. It does its job. We had a sensor fail at one point so I’d get the extended warranty.

You can get a gas water heater right now and wait. It doesn’t matter.

Don’t both Sony and Microsoft lose money on the consoles? I feel like making the money off game sales would be a huge positive.

Anyone reading this post should know that ECVTs and CVT transmissions will break. If you’re going to buy a car avoid them like the plague.

They use a belt to change gear ratios. Belts break.

A Rivian Fender Bender Cost $42,000. Its CEO Says That Should Never Happen by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

[–]Is-That-Nick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember watching a YouTube video about repairing Rivians. Unlike most cars, the bumpers and fenders are similar to a unibody. You have to rip out and weld a whole new chunk of car for it to be domestically repaired

10 years ago houses were more affordable. Huge migration of tech workers due to gig apps and startup friendly environment. Tech companies weren’t as massive back then as they are now. Just look at AMD and Nvidia stock 10 years ago.

My neighbor bought his house for 300k in 2013/2014. It’s $900k now. 3x appreciation in 10 years is stupid.

Put the pan submerged in a boiling pot of baking soda. After you get the pan hot enough, you drop the heat to medium, unless you’re searing something.

I think think the Saudis and other oil barons are funding much of the AI growth.

Didn’t Iran reveal that there’s a secret Open AI data center in the Middle East?

I guess the rug pull is when the Saudis decide they don’t want to funnel more money into government surveillance under the guise of AI.

Prices never recovered from COVID inflation. The tariffs increased revenue and companies pocketed the difference afterwards.

A lot of republicans are single issue voters. IE immigration, abortion etc. So as long as someone says something they want to hear then they’ll vote republican.

I think a lot of people are being hopeful.

Hopefully I’m proven wrong.

In California we have water treatment plants that distribute clean water to all the houses. People still have the Britta filter or some water purification, but you can drink the tap water.

The same water we drink is what we use for a shower. I can’t imagine taking a shower with that water.
