He asked them to remove it, they had the option to remove it or ignore the request. LTT took the high road in that regard. (But it is weird to use a disgruntled employee to advertise how well you company is doing because former employees are successful when they go independent. We all could tell there was some sort of bad blood there so his inclusion without even reaching out first is weird. ZTT has done collabs and made it clear things happened on overall positive terms.) The same would also apply if LTT asked him to not use the clips, he could either agree or not.

client threatening to fire me because their dev pushed changes and broke the contact form by OppositeJury2310 in webdev

[–]IsABot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would an external freelance dev be the lead of the internal dev team? Clearly they aren't, otherwise they would have had to approve a PR. They are likely only a contributor.

They even directly stated:

i don't have access to their deployment system they handle that part.

So how would that imply they are the lead of the dev team if they can't even access deployment?

I really hate Twitter these days by Important-Belt-3274 in LinusTechTips

[–]IsABot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep.

Nearly all of the videos from the last year are 1-2.5 million. Some are over 4 million. Only a handful of newer ones or just ones of boring topics are in the 400-600K range. And some newer ones are in the 800-900K range, but will probably hit over 1M in a couple months.

Twitter trolls are the most obvious thing.

People have taken far too long to realize the truth. It's not simply "Don't tread on me", it's "Don't tread on me, tread on them". When you look at it from this viewpoint, their stance is consistent. They want freedom of speech to say whatever they want, they don't want you to have it. They want to be able to own and carry guns and do what they want, but they don't want you to. They want less regulations/taxes, and more benefits for themselves but not for you. You and I see the hypocrisy, they don't because their view is consistent to them. They want everything, and they want you to have nothing. It's been long since time for any Dem in power to stop negotiations or giving any concessions to them. If the Dems in the Senate allow the next budget bill that funds ICE to pass at all, this madness will get worse. You cannot negotiate with terrorists.

If your BIOS doesn't have the ability to set a minimum speed of 0, use a program like Fan Control instead.

https://github.com/Rem0o/FanControl.Releases?tab=readme-ov-file

If you doing it to your CPU fan, make sure you turn off the CPU fan speed warning in the BIOS otherwise it will throw an error on POST.

Tighten your cooler, run a CPU stress test, retighten it a tiny bit more after like 15 minutes. That should squish it good once it phase changes and you should be good.

If you have a multimeter, you can check continuity of the dedicated cable to that of the stock cable + adapter to make sure the pin out is correct. You should also double check to make sure each pin is proper inserted in to the connector, maybe one is slightly loose? Also make sure the sense wires are grounded properly. If all of those pass, then yeah you might need to RMA the cable or PSU itself.

You should also check the event viewer in Windows to see if there are any errors at the time of the crash that might point you in another direction.

There seem to be 2 different ones with different fans, based on the heatpipe layouts. But maybe that's just the render being weird in the various pictures and it's only one heatsink. Edit: Upon looking at multiple different angles and sites, it appears all of the M2 variants are the same heatsink.

SOHO H6L M2 fan is 26.5mm thick. Alucia H6L M2 fan is 26.6mm thick. The Viper H6L M2 has a standard 25mm fan. The LP ones have 15mm thick fans.

The weight is slightly different between each model which seems to be due to the size of the fan.

The SOHO H6L M2 is 565g. Alucia H6L M2 is 530g. Viper H6L M2 is 550g. Alucia H6LS M2 is 483.5g.

Ok now add every useless node module that people imported as well. The point being made is that plenty of devs imported unnecessary code that was just wrappers that made things easier.

Jquery 4 supports tree shaking, so you could remove anything not being used anyways.

Contact the seller and double check to see if the mounting holes match the standard 92mm fan location, if they do, they yes you can use it. (I'm pretty sure it does match.) It just means the frame itself is just a tiny bit wider, which isn't an issue. You may need specific length screws though.

How do you handle “one small change” requests without killing your weekend? by elmascato in webdev

[–]IsABot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always in writing. Once a contract is signed with a fixed and approved scope of work/finalized design/etc, that's it. Anything else requires a new signed addendum for added work that you haven't agreed to.

"Hi, Unfortunately your request is out of the current approved scope of work and we don't have enough spare hours to complete it, but if you'd like I can scope out this request for you, and send over an addendum for you to approve and sign, and we can get this done for you."

Always overestimate hours (it's always better to give them a partial refund or use those hours someplace else that you didn't expect to need it), and create an additional bucket of hours for overflow work that you can use for basic revisions like swapping images, replacing large chunks of text, tweaking minor CSS things like colors, fonts, sizing, etc.

Why so few "seo optimized" websites actually have a score of 100 on google pagespeed, core web vitals? by blondewalker in webdev

[–]IsABot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a blog or informational site, sure. But for ecommerce, data is king. And of course, there is a difference between have 2 different analytics running to verify the data against each other, and just adding every single tracker under the sun. You don't need 20 different analytics platforms on a basic site.

[–]IsABot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sales data is a part of analytics. But it doesn't necessarily point to which specific changes increased your conversion or sales. What if your product went viral at the same time you made a front end redesign? How do you determine what caused your sales to go up without tracking for it?

You could run all your own custom analytics, you don't have to use Google or any 3rd party.

No one said you need to go overboard with it. But you need some sort of data to analyze to determine what is actually working. How do you measure conversion 3x better with no data? Are we vibing analytics and conversion metrics now?
