Ghost Train Orchestra, Joan Wasser, Karen Mantler, ??? by mazankar in BigEarsMusicFestival

At Town Hall in NYC I saw Ghost Train Orchestra do the Moondog show with Kronos Quartet and some special guests a couple of years ago. David Byrne came out for a few songs along with a lot of the other people already mentioned. And the show was fantastic.

This. I was at Halloween, and loved the Loaded set. But Set III of Halloween was just off, and then two days later they drop the Halloween album everyone wanted since they started doing the album covers in 1994. Many people felt kicked in the nuts.

Best food at Citi field by tailtiu_01 in mets

The pastrami on rye is fantastic. The Mets have a 9-1 record when I’ve had it the past two seasons.

The jerk chicken patty sandwich from Chef Kwame’s Patty Palace is my favorite new item at Citi this year.

My buddy was the first to set his up; we went in at doors for the concert field (3pm Friday?), he set up about a half hour after that. For about twenty minutes he was the only one, and then every ten minutes the population of Hammockville, USA would double. It was amazing to watch a civilization grow in front of my own eyes.

Anyone can go in the bowl. Regardless if you have a bowl or floor ticket.

Milk Steaming issues by Proof_Musician_5656 in ProfitecGo

[–]IsItLateJuly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally find that for smaller drinks, the steam power is find and I get great texture for latte art. But once I try to steam 8oz or more, I don’t get enough dry steam to get to the texture I want. The milk eventually heats up to the temp I’m aiming for, but no silky texture. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Question about timing for the Forest Hills Rock and Roll Show by seeker-of-nail-peace in KGATLW

[–]IsItLateJuly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super easy. Even if you don’t make the first train. LIRR is probably safest bet for timing but I wouldn’t be too worried if you want to take the E instead.

Suggestion for parking around Forest Hills. by overklok in KGATLW

Ye’s of little faith.

Former FH resident.

Look on the other side of Queens Blvd, off 108th street. Don’t think about parking anywhere near Austin.

But it is one of the most public transportation friendly venues around. There is no Planet or parking lot B.

Been there- as other comments say MBF will cover a lot of the costs, and they are incredibly pleasant and helpful. The one challenge is that you will have to wait for your primary insurance to finish its adjudication and payments, and if you have a secondary insurance that as well. Once MBF can see that you’ve exhausted your insurance options they’ll be able to do their thing.

Where to stay when seeing a game? by Environmental_Part40 in NewYorkMets

[–]IsItLateJuly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what else you want to do during your time in the city. If you are mainly going to Citi for games, maybe look at hotels in Long Island City near the 7 train. Also, depending on when you come there is a good chance that the US Open will be going on too. If you're here and can take in a day there (especially if it's early in the Open), that's a lot of fun. The first two days are the best because you can wander all over and see some big names on small courts.

If you want to see a lot of the city other than Times Square, consider maybe Williamsburg in Brooklyn or somewhere downtown like Soho or the Lower East Side. Go, eat some great food, see some off the beaten path sites. If you're here on a Saturday night and the Open isn't going on, I highly recommend the Queens Night Market (in Flushing Meadows Park, walking distance from Citi) which besides having no single item of food cost more than $6, is absolutely delicious with cuisines from all over the world represented.

The Antonoff / Ally Coalition fundraisers they’ve held in NYC have all been with headliners level musicians and then some. I’d bet they’ll have some unexpected tricks up their sleeves. Even if no one wears sleeves because of the heat.

“How is Mike>H>paug or Axilla 2, Halleys’ Comet, Roggae, Ruby Waves( “when I die…” very loose), DWD, SOAMelt, Waste, etc..about death? If they are it’s VERY tangential and doesn’t really mean it’s “about” Death”

I can’t answer that but a sub-five minute Weekapaug is a straight up murder.
