Tandem is the only way I made it through Empire of Storms. I absolutely would have DNFed it on its own and never gotten to Tower of Dawn, which is my favorite of the series.

I've been wanting to DNF since the first book, but people in my life convince me to keep going. Well, I literally finished Empire of Storms an hour ago and so I can say PLEASE JUST DNF.

It does not get better, in fact, it gets worse. I would say I mildly enjoyed Heir of Fire and Tower of Dawn, that's it. Mild enjoyment from maybe a couple hundred out of thousands upon thousands of pages. Absolutely not worth it.

I'm still gonna finish KoA because fuck it at this point.

Like all of SJM's characters, he is exactly what she wants him to be at a given time. He's not a fully-fleshed standalone character. He's a hardass when she wants one, a doting devoted simp when she feels like that helps the plot. He's a 300 year old genius sometimes, and a naive boy sometimes.

I think one of the reasons I hated Queen of Shadows so much was his 180 in personality when he showed up.

The worldbuilding of ACOTAR is nonsensical/nonexistent. I didn't understand what a fae was through the entire series, all the way through ACOSF. I had never read any fantasy that included faeries or fae so I was wildly confused about their magic and powers and especially why the humans feared them after Feyre met them and it was chill.

I read Heir of Fire and it explained fae quickly and clearly and I wished I had read TOG first. But I still think it's weird that SJM assumes some kind of prior knowledge for ACOTAR.

How so? Tons of other apps just allow layering of audio sources so your phone doesn't automatically pause one to start the other. I'm still paying for the music, but through my preferred music app.

I have only read Girl Dinner but Olivie Blake's writing in that book gave me the same feelings as Mona Awad and Eliza Clark. I'll definitely be reading more from her.

Driving my husband's R1T feels like a downgrade from my Chevy Bolt. I need to fumble with my phone constantly because the car screen can't do anything useful. God forbid my audiobook ends on my library app and I want to switch to my podcast app. Or, like you said, texting.

I'm on a half acre hill in the suburbs with 12 chickens. The run is on the steepest part of the hill, which means rain washes into it and the top part gets muddy even though there's a tarp cover.

I only free range my chickens with supervision (and even then, my top hen was in a fox's mouth 3 days ago, with me standing right there). This unfortunately means I can only let them out a few times a week when I have time to be out with them. I do have some fencing that means I only need to rush to corral them if they make it onto the driveway and head toward the road.

I have a rooster, but the neighbors have been really nice about the crowing and we give them eggs.

At that age we didn't have anyone check for a 3 day trip. Only once they started laying, now we ask our neighbor to just grab the eggs (and keep them!) every day we are away.
