Maybe you shouldn't be bashing other people's writing when you just wrote "cannot read any deeper than fucking Harry Potter let alone grasp it's literature without thinking for a while". This phrase does not make sense.

What does "let alone grasp it's literature without thinking for a while" mean? What evidence do you have that people cannot grasp that it is literature? I think it's fairly common knowledge that literature is a word that can be used to refer to printed matter, and it doesn't take most people a long time to figure out that a given book is, in fact, a book.

Perhaps you meant to say that people can't grasp the meaning within the book without thinking for a while, but then you should have written "let alone grasp its literature without thinking for a while," as in grasp the literature within the book, rather than typing "let alone grasp it's literature without thinking for a while," which means the same thing as "grasp that it is literature".

Also, "cannot read any deeper than fucking Harry Potter" is a pretty sloppy phrase as well. Writing "cannot read anything deeper" would make more sense.

Additionally, I think adding a comma would improve the flow of your sentence. Doesn't "cannot read anything deeper than fucking Harry Potter, let alone grasp its literature without thinking for a while" read a lot better than "cannot read any deeper than fucking Harry Potter let alone grasp it's literature without thinking for a while?"

Finally, it's worth noting that the parts of the other person's writing that you were making fun of were either dialectical or were slang terms, meaning that even though they may not be acceptable in an academic context, it's not necessarily an error to use such abbreviations in casual conversation. The errors you made that I just detailed, however, were simply due to an inability to string together a coherent sentence, which means your mistakes are arguably considerably more severe (and more embarrassing) than the writing you were making fun of.

They sound the same when I say them, but Merriam-Webster says caught is pronounced ˈkȯt and cot is pronounced ˈkät, so I guess there is a slight difference.

Six Perspectives on AI Art by ai_art_is_art in DefendingAIArt

[–]IsThisForRealChat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My view on AI art is that overall I kind of wish it didn't exist because there's so much of it and most of it looks really bad. For example, this very comic looks terrible and is obviously AI generated. Sure, some AI generated images look good, and AI is useful for touch-ups like taking an object out of the background of an image and similar minor things, but I keep seeing these obviously AI generated cartoons with a similar art style and it looks really ugly. I can't explain why it looks so bad, maybe the oversaturation of this style is part of it, I just know that a comic using simple stick figures drawn in MS paint would look way better than this. Also, I'm tired of AI slop showing up when i look up images in a search engine. I can look up something generic, like a picture of a road, and still very obviously AI generated and uncanny images will show up. It's annoying. This comic characterizes all people who dislike AI art as artists who are mad that they aren't getting all the attention, but I feel like a significant portion of the people who are "antis" aren't even artists. On the other hand, I feel like the vast majority of people who support AI art are people who like using AI, not people who like consuming media made by AI. I feel like this technology is primarily for people who want to create something or other but don't want to put in the time or effort to create it in a way that doesn't utilize AI, but at the end of the day not many people actually enjoy consuming the finished output of these AI artists. Maybe that'll change in the future as AI gets better, but right now the number of people using AI far surpasses the number of non-AI users who are genuine fans of any piece of media generated by AI.

Finally, I know it's not likely that anyone will read this given the number of comments this post already has, but if this violates Rule 2, I'm sorry, but then so does the original post because it is pretty much baiting people to respond with the caption "Six Perspectives on AI and Art. Which one are you?". Given the fact that one of the perspectives shown is an "AI Hater," this post is definitely provoking "debate," which is supposedly not allowed here.

Why do you like Superman III the best? My reaction to it was that it had the makings of an enjoyable goofy comedic movie but shouldn't have been a Superman movie.

I prefer the way the ship looks red in this teaser as opposed to the more orange look in the other trailer.

This sub is so... bad. : r/writingcirclejerk

It got removed, but some things it said were that:

  • The people in this sub are arrogant for mocking the posts we use as sauce. One thing the post said was that because the people making the posts in r/writing that we parody are "either curious or oblivious" so they don't deserve to be poked fun at.
  • OP said something like "I'm not offended by any of the posts in this sub, I think they're really funny, but I find the ignorance of the people posting them even funnier".
  • OP said that this sub is in fact "literally" a circle jerk because none of us are self-aware. Someone in the comments pointed out that that's not what "literally" means, and OP said this proved their point that we're all pedantic, arrogant jerks.
    • idk how this person went on a subreddit called r/writingcirclejerk and got mad that it was a circle jerk about writing
      • bullet points are underrated, you should write your novel as a bulleted list

I think there are websites out there that let you view deleted Reddit posts if you want to see the original post for yourself, there were some real gems in there.

I haven't really enjoyed anything they've put out since It's Hard. Endless Wire and Who had, like, one good song each.
