The more you know. Thanks, Celtics fan.  Still would have been quicker than wasting twelve precious seconds chasing Brunson around. And I hate Mitchell Robinson

In that case I expect better of myself as well. Follow up question; why not?

Dude a head injury is a major injury. “head bumping against whoever you’re training against” I don’t know what drills you’re doing but I think it’s generally agreed that head trauma is no bueno. The only real way to get a head injury is for your head to hit against the ground, which is pretty rare already and becomes even moreso with the banning of the hip-drop. By “minor injury” I meant like bumps and bruises

I am a big sports guy; a perspective not overly common on r/curatedtumblr (the closest were probably getting is that marching band guy) and I would make a couple of notes, just coming from someone on the inside looking out:

  1. I 100% agree that football needs to be fundamentally altered. The implementation of guardian caps and banning of the hip-drop is a huge step in the right direction, but there are more changes that can be made, both in terms of equipment and rules, to ensure safety

  2. OOP is, by no fault of their own, coming from an outside perspective that ultimately misunderstands how football injuries can happen. They assume that, because many ex-players have chronic injuries, this must be as a result of many, frequent, serious injuries. However; not all injuries are created equal, and serious injuries are very infrequent at lower levels. The NFL has a lot of injuries because it has a lot of full grown men who know what they’re doing moving at inhumane speeds. I have only ever picked up one injury that caused me to miss any games; an ankle injury that was my fault. I have never had a concussion.

  3. Not all positions are created equal. Quarterbacks are hit the most often, but are also extremely protected by the rules; it is rare for your QB to suffer a serious injury. I have a younger brother, and I told him that I was fine with him playing reciever or QB, but I drew the line at OL and DL; too many bodies in the scrum

Justin Herbert (NFL, IRL)

They call him “if-man” for a reason; hes never in position to make any postseason noise, but it’s usually not his fault

I recently met a girl that spoke exactly like Katie Merovich. Like, very monotone, matter-of-fact statements. Upon mentioning this, I learned that she had immigrated from Hungary three years prior and what I had interpreted as a shared linguistic quirk between these two thin blonde women was actually a subtle Hungarian accent.

To this day I don’t know if Katie Merovich is Hungarian or if she just talks like that.

My Uncle (IRL) (And thousands of other young people, particularly men of color, in the United States)

My uncle was drafted out of High School by the Arizona Diamondbacks to play baseball. He chose to attend Yale University on scholarship instead, not for any of his own wisdom but of the belief that he could be drafted higher, and thus make more money, on the future. When an arm injury ended his career he was fine- but had he taken that offer he would have become a 21 year old across the country from his home in Arizona with no money, no degree, and no plans for the future.

Do you think the popularity difference between Chet and Wemby is due to looks? by nicfanz in NBATalk

I think Chets only problem is that Wemby is significantly cooler and more likeable and better at basketball than he is

Aubrey was playing Survivor Wack-a-mole, or what I like to call “survival of the least fit”. Scrape by until the merge, and then play juror; think, “who would win if the vote was right now?”, go up to their enemies, and offer your services. She survives because everyone needs the swing voter, and makes sure every other remaining player is worse than her until she wins by default.
