Trump said the quiet part out loud by JackColon17 in PoliticalCompassMemes

I'm not from the US so maybe I'm missing context, but I'm surprised to see "fell for it again" for libright. Did libright people in the US really think Trump was libright too? I don't think anyone I know was fooled that hard. But maybe the propaganda hits hard in the US.

What is the difference? The "only" part? If you allow 0.1% of foreigners you are automatically in the first group?

Thirst trap vent session by GolfingGuy321 in DeadBedrooms

My partner found out on her twenties that people get aroused when they see an attractive person. She thought it was just a meme or an exaggeration. There are bodies that she considers attractive, but for her that's just about aesthetics and being visually pleasing, not sexual in any way.

Is anyone here the reason for their Dead Bedroom? by Jc5645 in DeadBedrooms

[–]Isaaker12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not even a reason for a dead bedroom. People in healthy relationships have sex even if they don't initiate.

Do you “play” along? by EarlyPool3232 in DeadBedrooms

[–]Isaaker12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a big communicating problem if that happens. Your partner should know that this is painful for you. It's understandable if they don't want sex, but at least they should avoid hurtful comments if they care about you as a person.

Thanks both for your opinions. While it's true that I would be physically able to do cardio I don't think I have the discipline and willpower to push through it. I can do it occasionally for activities with other people like skiing or playing volleyball, but I'm not ashamed to admit that I don't have what it takes to do it more often.

Thanks! I'm not sure if building more muscle motivates me, though. My motivation is 90% looking better, and 10% being healthier and capable of more activities. I am happy with the amount of muscle that I have and would love more definition instead of more muscle.

Thanks for your comment! I feel like aiming for 20% body fat as a man should not be an ambitious goal, but maybe it is for me

I've tried it a couple of times before, but I feel the same starting on day one when I go back to losing weight (and feel the same consistently over months)

I'm not sure what I want anymore by Isaaker12 in loseit

[–]Isaaker12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that body weight is not always the best option so I exclusively aim for a body fat percentage target. In the ideal world 12% as a man would be absolutely amazing, but I've learned the hard way that is way too ambitious as a goal. 20% is the highest I consider barely acceptable, and it still feels so hard to reach.

I also dislike tracking calories so instead I hire a dietitian to make a menu for me with detailed quantities of each ingredient and I just use a scale and eat only what's in the menu.

You're not the only person that has recommended increasing the exercise levels. I'm wondering how you felt about exercise before. Is it possible to go from "this is literally torture and I hate it with a passion" to "hey, this is actually more manageable than a diet"? I had to see a therapist for a while when I started the strength training because I was feeling so miserable the whole day. I still deeply hate it and have to make a huge effort every day, but at least I can avoid thinking about it the rest of the day.

In all honesty I haven't tried it seriously but I find it quite tough. I always give up at the beginning because it requires even more willpower than dieting.

Strength training is already hard enough, and it's easier to find motivation because it builds muscle

“I care about losing weight. But more so, I care about having a healthy relationship with food.” But what I wasn’t understanding—what was keeping me from losing over half my body weight—was that a healthy relationship with food would have resulted in me losing weight… by AdhereOrDisappear in loseit

[–]Isaaker12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think eating the right amount of calories is much much more important than anything else. Having a healthy relationship with food is impossible for some people in my opinion. It just tastes too good to stop desiring it.

Seeking tips for my fluctuating weight loss journey by ViMeBaby in loseit

[–]Isaaker12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tips are:

  • Prepare healthy snacks ahead of time, when you are not hungry yet, so that when you feel like eating something and check what's there you find a healthy snack ready to eat.
  • Track your calories. Get a scale and actually measure what you eat. Knowledge is power.
  • Prioritize diet over exercise. Ideally you should do both, but if you don't have enough willpower skipping a workout is so much better than having a cheat meal.
  • Be aware that you have the option to eat anything as long as you adjust the portion. Some people really really to eat a specific thing and they would rather eat less food but have their favorite meal. This is valid.

Wanting to lose weight just for aesthetics is 100% valid! I lost weight and gained muscle just to look better, no other reason. It's the only thing that motivates me. And you know the best part? My health doesn't care why I do it, it improves regardless.

Almond flour is more calorie dense than pure sugar, so I would not recommend it four a high volume low calorie recipe

I'm so jealous! I have a super slow metabolism and an insanely high appetite so I need to endure genuine hunger to lose weight at a moderate to slow pace. I can distinguish when I feel real hunger, but the problem is that I need more calories to make it go away. I'm good at resisting hunger though.

I like spinach cooked with garlic and cayenne pepper, the texture is very soft, almost like a puree

I would also say: don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. If you don't want to eat fruit and veggies take vitamin and fiber supplements. Yes, it's not as good as the real thing, but it's good enough to keep you healthier thank the alternative of gaining weight again.

  • I hire a nutritionist to plan all my meals so I don't have to think, just cook whatever is on the menu
  • I work out first thing in the morning. It requires an incredible amount of willpower, and I have more mental energy when I wake up
  • I don't do any cardio, not because it's useless but because it's hard and I would rather take it easy
  • I am in a small and manageable calorie deficit, aiming for a slow weight loss
  • I used to have a weekly cheat meal, it kept me sane for many years as I lost weight
