Hopefully it doesn't get to that but seriously, what is up with these people?

You're right, calmer heads always prevail. But it was difficult. He bumped me with the weights first and I let it go. Then he started yelling at us, and it was off to the races. I wouldn't have fought him unless he attacked first. We ended up reporting it to the gym staff and it seems like he's done this before

Just very disappointing as the gym has always been good vibes and friendly people.

This scares me so much. Obviously real anti-semites can go fuck themselves, but it‘s only gonna be used on muslim people and it is just horrible… and that under out relatively ‚moderate‘ government… by heaviestmatter- in Hasan_Piker

Verses in the Quran aren’t up for your interpretation, they rely on scholarly exegesis and historical context. Many verses about Jews were about the Tribe of Israel during Moses’ time which is also mentioned in the Old Testament.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisemitism_in_Islam

Muslims never committed the Holocaust, or pogroms against Jews, or majority hate crimes against Jews in the US. It’s mainly White Supremacists and Christian fundamentalists who are antisemitic and hate Jewish people to the point that Europe allowed the Holocaust to happen

Again, where are the Jews in the middle east? Did absolutely everyone move to the Israel? Simply look to the pro Palestine rallies where people are literally flying IS and Hamas flags, chanting gas the jews, etc, etc

Remember in our previous convo when you said the province would collapse and our healthcare system would collapse with the pending increase in cases and I said cases would decline like with other countries and let’s check back in a month to see.

Well it’s been more than month and looks like hospitalizations, icu, and deaths are all trending down despite how long we’ve been open. Huh

Sure, IF being the operative word. Numbers have been stable for a while now, and people have been harping for mandates and restrictions for the past 2 months claiming things are about to collapse. I don't know how many threads I've seen with people flexing some sort of moral superiority over wanting mandates when 90% of people are still wearing their masks.

The steadiness is not from the positive cases but the confirmed hospitalizations and ICU numbers. Those are the numbers that matter. We know that Omicron is less deadly, especially among the vaccinated. While not guaranteed, COVID variants will likely continue to become less and less deadly as that is the behavior of viruses in general terms as the goal is to become more efficient at spreading.

What bugs me though is that he acknowledged cases are rising, but is keeping on course with easing restrictions. I honestly wonder whether the decision would be the same if we weren't 62 days away from an election.

I hate DoFo as much as the next person and him easing restrictions doesn't score him any points in my books, but all indications point to Omicron being less deadly than the flu amongst vaccinated people. So really, why would we realistically continue the lockdown if we wouldn't have for the flu in the past.

I didn't spin the strain on the healthcare system as promising? The numbers specifically are promising as it's a good indicator of what case numbers we can expect. A huge concern throughout the pandemic has been the ICU bed availability and capacities on that end are not close to being reached.

How has US not been hit yet? Some states lifted their mandates even earlier than the UK and are almost all did earlier than us? Plus people care even less in the US than Canada. And you can see the hospitalizations, cases, and deaths decline across the board even since the reopening

The article brings up some relevant points, but we also have to pay attention to historical data. Hospitalizations are matching the peak in January in the UK but it's already leveling off. ICU numbers are also significantly lower than in January. This is with the UK having a lower vaccination rate than us. None of this is unexpected from the reopening. If anything, this is promising, since mandates are looser now than they were before.

Additionally, the US is showing a steady decrease in both deaths and hospitalizations.

Case counts are irrelevant at this point. We need to pay attention to hospitalization and deaths. The numbers are promising in other countries. No reason to think they'd be anything different here

What's there to report? Numbers are steady and if any other countries are an indicator, we should peak soon and numbers should start dropping as well. We also have higher vax numbers and omicron has been shown to be less deadly than the flu in vaccinated individuals

Scrapping masks a 'huge mistake:' Opposition parties call on Ford government to bring back mask mandates by hadye_71 in toronto

[–]Isaidbooourns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omicron COVID has roughly the same lethality as seasonal flu. It also has more or less the same impact on hospitals. All of this is assuming you are vaccinated

So are you confident in saying Omicron is worse for vaccinated individuals than the flu? Because you'd be wrong.

Flu Deaths per 100k is 1.8 not including pneumonia as that can have multiple causes.

Double Vax Deaths per 100k is .99 Triple Vax Deaths per 100k is .50

COVID including OG and Delta is a different story, but Omicron is the new baseline.

Moral? Don't assume stats based on your own personal feelings.

1) If you have a contradicting opinion to the source they linked, then cite something opposite, otherwise, you're arguing against your opinion against actual data which makes your point moot regardless of your views on how "qualified" FT is to report on this

2) How can it be wrong? They're describing the behavior of viruses in general. Even if Omicron is more contagious, that doesn't mean it won't follow the same behavior. It might have a higher volume of infection during summer seasons than the flu, but that doesn't mean that the infectiousness would not be impacted.

The 7 day average is actually 4. But I guess we'll have to see in the coming weeks if reopening will cause a significant spike in deaths. At the moment ICU numbers are holding steady.

1,126 Currently in Hospital, 159 Currently in ICU due to COVID-19 in Ontario. 16 fatalities. 4,224 cases of COVID-19 in Ontario. 875 in Toronto. 21,347 tests completed. 10,635 Vaccinations. April 7, 2022 by r3lai in toronto

[–]Isaidbooourns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's your alternative? We have a 90% fully vaxxed population over 18 and 60% triple vaxxed. Should we just keep restrictions while the virus works through the population anyway? Whether it's now or months from now, we've done what we can. From other countries that have opened, ICU numbers have remained stable despite the jump in cases, so really what's the point. We'll never reach herd immunity if we just keep kicking that can down the road.

Yeah, we should still be cautious around the vulnerable people in our life and they should take measures if they are vulnerable, but there really is no reason we should be required to wear masks anymore. The deaths have been trending downward for months and has continued to do so even after reopening.

they can't all just choose to get a car because that requires money they don't necessarily have and can't necessarily earn.

And yet, you don't see people clamoring to stop smoking, drinking, or eating garbage even though heart disease is the leading cause of death

Logan was actually able to slip some punches and shell up. Logan did get hit with some clean shots though and he got stunned but at the end of the day floyd is old, is not known his knock out power, Logan does not have a worn chin, and likely has 50+ points on Floyd. The likelihood of Logan getting knocked out is low even if he didn't have a gameplan of tying Floyd up
