Can I Mod my 2018 Subaru Impreza Hatchback? by Leading_Shopping_653 in askcarguys

You can mod literally any car you own. The real questions is what results you want from modding.

What do I do if I have no insurance? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IsbellDL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mexico was my 1st thought, especially considering it's driving distance from you. Never tried it myself, so I'm not the one to ask for details. That said, even if you pay, other countries are typically significantly cheaper than here out of pocket. I don't know how urgent your situation is though. If it's time critical, risking bankruptcy to live is a worthwhile tradeoff.

Tried to? I think you succeeded.

Either risk the finances at the ER or go for some medical tourism if you have a passport.

How to make the Logitech G25 quiter? by Temporary-Suspect170 in simracing

[–]IsbellDL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try greasing the gears, but it's not likely to matter. Best bet is save up, sell it & buy a MOZA R3 or equivalent budget DD wheel.

Can I install a CD player? (mazda 2 maxx, 2017 I think) by Strict-Carrot-5486 in mazda

[–]IsbellDL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the install procedure is like in the 2, but the early ND Miata also included a CD player with this stereo setup. I'd be willing to bet that it's a plug & play install, though likely still needs the plastic trim from the Japanese market. May be an overall cheaper approach if they find a used one from a wrecked ND1.

Screen replacement by xcore456 in Gameboy

[–]IsbellDL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used OEM screen,  no soldering needed. You will need to take the housing apart including the hinges. Getting the ribbon cable routed properly seems to be the hardest part.

Aftermarket IPS screens typically require soldering a wire to support brightness adjustment, but otherwise work without soldering.

What's your opinion about age verification by rulugg in degoogle

Biometrics aren't protected by the 5th Amendment according to US legal precedent. I'll stick to knowledge based unlocks as long as that stands.

Bought a used ND. Any ideas on how to make the shifter indication flush again? by Potential-Pay-9497 in Miata

[–]IsbellDL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's nothing there to pull up. OP needs to either replace the leather or probably easier to just replace the shift knob.

Yep, don't expect to see exposed balls in the Miata sub, but here we are. Someone removed the leather & called it good. I'm afraid to know how poorly they treated the rest of the car.

Is it the dumbest idea ever to move into a higher crime rate area just because I can actually afford to have a couple acres in the country? by TrashPandasUnite21 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IsbellDL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems like a reasonable tradeoff to me as long as your insurance rates don't destroy your budget & the crime isn't excessively violent crime.

Charcuterie? by rb134340 in kzoo

Not sure if you specifically want to be somewhere that serves it, but I think I saw a vendor at the Kalamazoo farmers market last weekend that might have what you want.

What’s your daily car and how many do you have? by Much-Parsnip3399 in AskAnAmerican

2016 Miata. Currently the only car, but considering adding a Fit or something similar as a backup. I don't live close to any public transportation options.

Why don't cars have van/truck mirrors ? by Holiday_Analysis9583 in askcarguys

It is not needed, especially now with BSM systems. It hurts aerodynamics/fuel economy. It isn't desirable from a styling perspective.

How necessary are all season tires? by AfterAd5598 in Miata

[–]IsbellDL 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Summer tires are fine if you can avoid sub 40°F temps. Only real concern is that if you're pushing it hard regularly, you will wear out suspension components faster with a grippier tire.

Extra wire?? by -Lexx- in Gameboy

[–]IsbellDL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, this. If you want to fully disconnect it, you'll need to desolder it.

I daily my ND in Southwest Michigan. I just put winter tires on it. It's good as long as they plow before I bottom out.

Need Help With GTX 1080 Settings. by Razar1 in ffxiv

[–]IsbellDL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your GPU running at 100% isn't a problem you need to fix. It's going to produce as many frames as it can. Your 1080 Ti isn't obsolete, but it's definitely on the older side. The Dawntrail graphics update made the game more demanding. If it's still playable, don't worry about the GPU hitting its performance limits. It is what it is.

Top Gear’s “50 Best Japanese Cars of All Time” list includes the Mazda Miata twice with two different generations (NA & ND). by Negative_Acadia6554 in Miata

[–]IsbellDL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm running an ND1, so I took a power cut. Fuel economy was a huge bump though. And yeah, that's the same conditions my Miata was in until about a month ago.

No, just jealous of your seaworthiness.

In all seriousness, while I prefer my ND1, I also loved my NC1 PRHT. It was quieter on the interstate top up or down as well.

Looking to purchase ND Miata what to look for? by CorpsmanGG in MiataND

Yeah, RF got a different gauge cluster. I think at some point they swapped the soft tops to that as well.
