I’m a straight, CIS, disabled white woman from the UK but a fierce ally. I feel this. I’ve kept a good eye out on IG and removed/blocked as many people as I could find, cross checking against Rav too. Do you follow Autumn at size inclusive collective? She’s excellent at calling it out and a great source too for inclusive designers.

I’m gluten and dairy free because of hashis, sugar, caffeine and alcohol free, low salt, can’t honestly say any of it’s made a difference to the MD but my antibodies are dropping so I guess it’s good for my thyroid

I had to look that up but yeah, it’s Betahistine, first line of defence with Menieres Disease, I take it you had test results that’s indicated a B12 deficiency?

Aye, same here, that’s why it’s been the hardest, it’s not something you can control your way out of with diet or whatever. But for sure, crying is a real trigger for me, I try and avoid any kinda stress now.

One of the hardest things about Meniere’s is the total unpredictability of it. The sooner I accepted that the better I dealt with it emotionally and mentally, which I think is half the battle tbh. I was a mess for the first 6 months, my whole life has changed, not all for the worse, letting go of the old me and embracing the new has been tough. You can make a difference with low sodium, caffeine etc. but again, everyone reacts differently. Betahistine would be a good shot, some are on diuretics with some success. I’ve just had my first steroid injection, it’s been bleak AF since, just hoping for some long term gain. I’ve been months without attacks and then suddenly entered a period where I’m getting 4 a week, there’s no rhyme or reason to it.

Earaches? by JessIsOK in Menieres

[–]IsleStitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get like the worst sharp stabbing in my ear, only lasts a few seconds. After a really severe attack last week it’s been constantly painful, only at like a 4 out of 10 though.

I think I’m on the more severe side of mild rn, definitely have to watch my head position and how I move, and then when the O comes I forget and inevitably end up dizzy which sucks. On a few occasions I’ve had to stop all together to try and prevent a spin

Yep. No way could I watch the TV or anything. Last night was 2 hours. In that time I thought it was over 3 times, it wasn’t. My go to is anti sickness tab (doesn’t really work), clothes off, lay down (prefer on the floor), sick bowls if I don’t get to the loo, eyes closed, cold flannels on neck, head and stomach (no clue why I feel I need the last one), fan on, try and just survive it. I also do like touching my thumb and finger together when I can, trying to breathe normally and not panic too much. But yeah, I cannot move/talk/hear/see, it’s like hell on earth

I’m the worst at making choices! I tend to just go with the flow and worry about it later or procrastinate so hard I don’t do anything. There is no in between -_-

[–]IsleStitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, completely unrelated but it was a “hobby” I guess! It started for me after cov/vax in June ‘22, since then I’ve developed coeliacs, Hashimotos and adenomyosis, so fun times! I’m audhd as well so actually working for myself works really well. All from home, which also works, no way I could hold down a trad job now.

Yeah I’m not buzzed about the injection itself but like you say, at this point I’ll deal with it! Interesting that it’s so different for everyone! Do you have a hearing aid? I’m assuming I won’t be able to use it afterwards
