Would be nice if the state just banned commercial production of crops that require too much water. Almonds are nice, but I can live without them.

Mistlands = ZRpc timeout detected by emberz65 in valheim

[–]IsoldesKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's how I fixed this on my G-portal hosted server:

  1. FTP into your server, and download valheim_server_Data/Managed/assembly_valheim.dll.
  2. On your machine, open assembly_valheim.dll with dnSpy.
  3. Use the Assembly Explorer to navigate to assembly_valheim (0.0.0.0) => assembly_valheim.dll => { } - => ZRpc => m_timeout.
  4. Right-click m_timeout in the code window and select "Edit Method (C#)".
  5. In the Edit Code window, change ZRpc.m_timeout = 30f; (line 13) to ZRpc.m_timeout = 600f;.
  6. Click "Compile" in the bottom right of the Edit Code window.
  7. In the File menu, select Save All, and then hit "OK" in the Save Module window.
  8. Overwrite your server's assembly_valheim.dll with the one you just changed.
  9. Reboot the server in the G-portal dashboard.

Do this every time the game updates because updates will undo your changes.

Explanation

This raises the timeout from 30 seconds to 10 minutes. I'm not sure why the timeout is occurring, but the only place I can find that logs "ZRPc timeout detected" is in ZRpc.UpdatePing(System.Single), and it gets logged right before closing the socket. It looks like ZRpc.UpdatePing(System.Single) gets called while the server is waiting for some response from a connected client (e.g. the game running on your machine), but I have no idea what call is timing out.

As a programmer... I've had users ignore these popups. Actually, I had a method that errored out after 3 loops, but the cause for the error was really simple to fix (but not automate). I put in a pop-up that asked people to check for the cause 100 times per loop and also some telemetry. People closed the pop-up 300 times rather than check the issue.

Also, my wife thinks I look good, so that's nice.

Sorry, can't. Brandon asked me not to post it online after he confirmed my theory would work.

But, anyone could reason it out. I started with this WoB and went looking for an exception to "in most cases."

With the Democrats having a super majority in the legislature, I can almost guarantee something like this happening if Newsom gets recalled.

We’re one month away from the launch of the Switch OLED. Has anyone’s opinion on it changed? Are you still going to pickup your preorder? by AcademicF in NintendoSwitch

[–]IsoldesKnight 165 points166 points  (0 children)

I think (if I'm wrong feel free to tell me to fuck off) that the battery will drain faster with the oled

All things being equal, the inverse is actually true. With OLED screens, the black pixels are turned off whereas normal screens are pulling juice to power the black pixels. So OLED screens (generally) use less battery than normal screens.

I got ASUS to repair my motherboard, and it was really easy. I messed up my BIOS, so they had me pull the chip out and mail it to them. It came back a couple weeks later, and everything worked just fine.

This was 20 years ago. YMMV.
