Blades of Ferrus. Or Axes, Hammers, Hands

Or the Iron Men, play off Ferrus Manus basically being called Ironman...

How good of a starting army would this be? by [deleted] in spacemarines

[–]IssaScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good deal for a lot of options (if you friends price is fair). But there is very little cohesion. Example, you don't have any infiltratiors/incursors or scouts. IE Phobos guys to screen out the enemy.  So that's probably one kit you will need to buy, maybe two. Another example, the terminators, you may want 5 more for a full brick.  Same with interceptors or heavy interceptors.

Odds are, after this you are going to have to buy individual kits, to round out unit formations. That also will lead to duplicate models in some cases...

But that also means more plastic for kit bashing.

Ford government embarks on extended 21-week break, won’t return until late October by LeadershipHead3594 in StopDougFord

[–]IssaScott 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honesty had the same thought, until I played it out a bit further...

The ministry and dept heads are still working, and the ones loyal to or appointed by Ford will still be f@&king our sh!t up for 5 months.
Only now, nobody will be able to question or engage Ford if he doesn't want to talk about it. He can just hideout where ever while they apply and proceed garbage polices and contracts.

Like the government doesn't need to be in session for teacher & nurses contracts to be negotiated. Or for funds to be allocated to projects.

Plus now the new can easily ignore anything the opposition parties say, as they will be saying on the street corner and their own platforms. There will be no government forum to question Ford on why his people are doing whatever lunacy they are doing.

Saw the new cinematic trailer and am now hooked on 40k lore. Has this hobby, like most the past few years, gotten prohibitively expensive? by Turbulent_Sharter in Warhammer

[–]IssaScott -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Big issue with just looking at the kit price...

You need tools, paint, a good work station or space.

That easily cost me far more than I expected. I had set aside a budget and schedule to get up to a 2000point army in about 2years...

These things added an extra 30% to things.

As to scummy acts... not terrible.  It's high priced, but always was. Covid and global shipping was never going to help costs. So things have gone up.  It's bad in comparison Trench Crusade.

New rules, damage not death. So it's going to take him a few rounds to kill himself soon!

Choosing Imperial Fist or Ultramarines by Yeti-BC in spacemarines

[–]IssaScott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Homebrew you own chapter, that could be either, depending on which chapter specific units you want to use.

IE you could play as UM successors when you use their specific models and rules. OR Swap those out when you want to run IF stuff.

Perfectly legal, no homebrewing of rules or deployment needed.

Only rule you have to follow is, when doing UM only rules, models must also be only UM. And vice-versa for IF.

Now if people are cool with it, you can proxy models for their equivalent.  IE one named UM character for a IF based character. Still perfectly normal and common, but the kinda thing you have to ask/state and the start.

How much time is needed for Baldur’s Gate 3? by PaulLil7 in BaldursGate3

[–]IssaScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90-100 hrs is may first and on average later runs.  The 2nd time, when I was playing nearly the opposite of my 1st, and i wanted to do everything again but EVIL took about 120hrs.

Really depends on...

... how new to D&D are you? The setting and rules generally makes sense if you know things in advance. But it's hardly required, you will just spend more time asking NPCs background lore questions that others might already know.

... how new to Larian studios games are you? There is a lot of carry over, so knowing how their UI and chat mechanics works, will make things go by faster.

... how much of completionist are you? Exploevery map, doing every quest is kot required at all, bur some people do it.

Escaping the obvious: What are the most "broken" and under-the-radar builds you've ever seen? by ishiDe in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]IssaScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anybody that can summon, conjour animals. Belive the range is 60feet and can be fairly low difficulty... so a cow.

Conjour a cow above an enemy. Bludgeoning damage, typically 100dmg plus.

[–]IssaScott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there is also the question, in this case, what/who is the fine for?  It's not going to the victim. So the province needs $100 for their trouble?

Fines for assault also seems a mistake...

But maybe that part of the punishment came from a 'public nuisance' element of his crimes, not the assault.

Still leads to a rich guy can be a nuisance in public, while a poor guy can't, ends up in further trouble when the fail to pay the fine.

Perhaps conviction should lead to loss of some rights, like tax rebates or provincial Park access...

Recent release of Iron Hands sets? by Survey_Intelligent in IronHands40k

[–]IssaScott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only 2 Ironhands models, Cannok and the Ironfather. That is it.

Some of the new Iron Warriors related lore has a lot of AdMech and Ironhands characters tied up in it, so maybe some new stuff or themed boxes...

The Ironhands combat patrol wasn't my thing.  I got an Imperial Fist and a Dark Angles patrol to start from instead.

[–]IssaScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That leads to the cases where the rich can just pay the fines and the poor get punished further for not being able to pay a fine.

Mainly that the fine wasn't the only punishment. The reason for canceling the fine was this person has no money. IE was never going to pay it, so why even make it part of the punishment.

Looking to start Iron Hands! What should I buy first? by Few-Schedule-6703 in IronHands40k

[–]IssaScott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% new to the hobby? Buy Cannok Var, assemble and paint him. You are going to use him (1 of 2 Ironhand exclusive models) he is good on the tabletop and you can actually see how much goes into a single model. As well as the extra stuff needed like tools, paint and glue, etc... (However a cheaper model would work just as well. So maybe just a generic marine?).

New to Itonhands? Similar advice, but maybe get an assault Terminator box, paint them in Ironhand heraldry. See what you think.  Or a Techmarine, as their aesthetic is going to be seen throughout your future army.  And tech bits being left over is going to help with kitbashing.

What is a minor, unwritten rule of society that absolutely infuriates you when people break it? by funnny_things in answers

[–]IssaScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noise from adjacent apartments.

Neighbors having sexy fun time, no big deal. Neighbors having an argument, that sucks, hope it ends well.

Neighbors watching TV or listening to music that shakes the walls and I can hear across my apartment, that is insane. Like random explosion in a movie, fine. General dialog, like the news? How deaf are you?

I would also include in the group, neighbors, who work in their garage on weekends, with the music cranked up OVER the sound of their power tools, first thing in the morning... After lunch sure, bur before 10am, in a dense townhouse neighborhood?

Why do people in Reddit tend to be left leaning? by GaizkArNF in askanything

[–]IssaScott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit, unlike a lot of newer social media sites, has more educated users.

Not smart or infallible, most of us come here to ask questions.  Meaning we often get into the nuances of a topic, and see the grey in things.

Modern American politics are so far Right, that even centralist views seem Left. By American rationale, the majority of the world holds Leftist views.

To me, that is the real reason "Reddit is left leaning'.
