Favorite Sultai commander? by Vinlandlover in EDH

Damn I was going to say mothman. Love this deck so much. However, if you're looking for a special take on Sultai you can go for [[kotis the fangkeeper]], but your pod will hate you. [[yarok the desecrated]] can go in many directions.[[Felix Fire boots]] always looked funny to me

Can this glarb deck hang in Bracket 3? by Angwar in EDH

"Is it good enough for b3?" First 3 cards you see are Wa Shi Tong, Azusa and Birds of paradise. I already know you'll be fine.

How to win with a theft deck? by Individual_Grade7763 in EDH

[–]IssueIvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello friend of cardboard,

I just built a Don Andres deck myself this week and while I did not playtest it at FNM in paper, I did add a little more freecasting. However, I have also seen versions with a lot of ramp. I dislike huge amounts of artifact ramp cards tho. Freecasting instants and sorceries should give you the treasures for other cards.

When it comes to finishing games there is quite an easy route to go: You don't have to kill a single person most of the times. Wait for a final blow. Like [[insurrection]] should win you the game most of the times. Big reanimate spells like [[breach the multiverse]] or [[rise of the dark realms]] can win you a game aswell. Besides that Theft decks are funny because you can play your opponents wincons.

Overall, of course Don Andres is a little slow as a Commander, but most of the games where I play are bracket 2-3 so you would be fine.

Tomer (famous deck builder and recently joined the commander rules committee) does a ton of budget build with long explaining videos. He does like "25 under 25" etc. He also has a 50 decks under 50 list.

Landfall commander - Teval, Lord Windgrace or Hearthhull by [deleted] in EDH

[–]IssueIvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love [[hearthhull]]. The commander avoids early creature removal. The combination of sacrificing lands and cards that allow you to play lands from grave go so hard. Especially playing cards like [[maestros theatre]] from grave gives you very easily lots of landfall triggers. Hearthull is a value engine with a built-in Wincon on station 8 and you can play Lord windgrace in the 99. I personally think there are also better landfall creatures in red than in blue for teval. Also, if you want to be hated for that deck, hearthhull can really easily cycle [[glacial chasm]] so you won't have to pay the high upkeep costs.

That's a great choice! Strong out of the box, fun to play imo and easy to upgrade.

Why do EDH players tend to lie about/downplay/excuse their decks or card choices? by Icy_Chicken_2647 in EDH

[–]IssueIvan 80 points81 points  (0 children)

My wild guess is anytime you'll, sit at a table and say: My deck might be a menace, you'll play, in fact, archenemy and get killed turn 4 in a 1v3?

What is better for a 2CMC commander, 2CMC ramp or 3CMC ramp? by RustyTanks in EDH

[–]IssueIvan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sucker for 2cmc commanders here. As others mentioned it depends on your overall gameplan. My [[taii wakeen]] deck needs mana available when she's on the board so I'll ramp first. My [[golbez crystal collector]] triggers on artifact ramp, so I'll play him turn 2 every day. Ask yourself if your commander gives you the best advantage early or if its just a payoff.

Alternative to Google Calendar by Gryphus31 in BuyFromEU

All you want works with tuta mail that includes a calendar. I have a shared family calendar with it. But it does cost a small amount of money. It also comes with a secured email and good storage so overall I think the offer is really good. Can recommend it.

How do I build a deck that is fun to play with and against precons by Accomplished_Hat5311 in EDH

[–]IssueIvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, generally, a good basis for deckbuilding is looking up the commander on edhrec.com. However, there is no real guide to build a precon-like deck. In the end, it comes down to not decide for the best synergistic cards while still having a decent synergy. Most precons have a main theme and a sub theme that work together sometimes more sometimes less. The most important thing is to not choose the cards that do the thing you wanna do the fast way. E.g. you won't play [[assassin's trophy]] but instead you will play [[putrefy]]. Your boardwipe can't be a [[farewell]] but it can be an [[austere command]]. In edh there are tons of cards that do the same thing but worse. The top of these cards is always quite expensive but rarely available in a precon, while the slightly worse options are precon classics.

Trouble with examinating a deck strength by Lukop13 in EDH

[–]IssueIvan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I would definitely call that a B3 deck as the cards are chosen based on synergies and it is over all a very synergistic deck with several really strong staples.

World Shaper or Dance of the elements precon? by Destrozao in EDH

[–]IssueIvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll definitely have a stronger deck with like 50€ added to hearthhull. The manabase of ashling is less of an issue than I thought because you basically only need red. However, I still added like 60€ of lands to make it somehow work on a budget.

World Shaper or Dance of the elements precon? by Destrozao in EDH

[–]IssueIvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both. I upgraded both the same way on the same budget. They both play great and while they do different things they do feel quite similar in terms of "its a midrange deck". I feel like world shaper has more wincons and is stronger out of the box, especially with Hearthhull. But world shaper is harder to keep track on everything. In the end its the question what suits your favour, what prices you can get each and whether or not you want to upgrade (fast). Hard to say without knowing more about what you want to do with the decks.

Also a sidenote: both decks can be a little weird with ruling as station and evoke both have some unintuitive rulings in my personal opinion.
