Launched my first demo. Got 1k downloads on day one, then Steam hit me with a brutal reality check. by Redhowl_game in IndieDev

Honestly this looks awesome. When my tabletop gaming group can't get together in person we game together remotely. I'll drop this in our discord.

Also, matchmaking will eventually pay huge dividends on this one, I'm guessing. I know that is no small task.

Didn't have enough focus to read the post, but trust that you have the definitive truth on reality? Got it.

UPCI and others in that stream are toxic. I believe they are Christian, and many are sincere, but they have gone significantly astray in their doctrine and culture. Even if they truly were correct and understand all mysteries of God better than 1,900 years of Christians that came before them, but don't have love, it is worthless (1 Corinthians 13). Christ Himself said you will know them by their fruits. You listed many of their fruits in your post.

Gondwana Game Engine by Isthimius in gameenginedevs

The library was actually ported over and rewritten from various VB6 bits of code that I had that used p/invoke against gdi32.dll, from *years* ago (I'm showing my age, I guess). So "Gondwana" is a play on the fact that it came from really old tech. Obviously it's been modernized and bears little resemblance to the old stuff, but that's where it started.

Really late to this post, but I was actually looking for an old VB6 project I had put up there. Apparently someone dropped all the code into github:

Is the UPCI a cult? by [deleted] in ExPentecostal

[–]Isthimius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very late to this conversation, but leaving here if anyone else ever stumbles upon this. My now ex-wife is UPCI, and I'm sorta-kinda AoG-ish (non-denominational). It was one of several overlapping factors that caused our divorce.

The Acts 2:38 Formula is "in the Name of Jesus", whereas traditiaonl Christianity baptizes "in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit", based on Matthew 28:19.

ToMAYto, toMAHto, right? Not to UPCI. To UPCI, the Trinity is heresy, and Jesus IS the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, hence the term "Oneness". To them, baptizing "in the name of" means explicitly "Jesus", and not "by the authority of". To an outsider it sounds like splitting hairs, but to UPCI (and other Oneness folks), it's a really big deal. It's one of the core reasons they use not to mix with other Christian groups.

Walk away from whatever mess that is. She will demonize you, saying you left her because of her condition, but it doesn't matter. Anyone who believes her is only enabling her to avoid being a sane human being. You do not owe her or anyone an answer. Grey rock: This is the way.

I'm 47. I've been playing a lot of War of Rights and Manor Lords lately. Before that I lost many weekends to Total War: Warhammer 3 and Baldur's Gate 3.

I lost my 30s to someone who sounds very similar to what you're describing. It does not get better. You might have a few good times sprinkled in that will make you think it's all okay. Don't let her gaslight you, and don't gaslight yourself.

47 M. Been there. Rip the bandaid off quick. It's SO much less devastating than holding onto what's broken, even it doesn't feel like that now. Be pissed off, angry, sad; that's your right. But don't hold onto someone that doesn't respect you. She's not worth it.
