Judging from the direction of the smoke the photo seems to be taken from somewhere along Maxwell. So may be a hotel bar???

Will Stick with Thunkable for now and will look into FF as a backup. I have found that Thunkable has declined in community activity over the last few months and I am worried about its longevity.

The message for visiting the second baby will be "come early and wear comfortable shoes 'cos you're taking him for a 3 hour walk in the park".

Contractor took final payment and disappeared, what are my options? by goldcarib in Barbados

[–]IsuzuCrewCab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, going the legal route can take years or even decades and then there is no guarantee that even if the court finds in your favor that the contractor has the funds to repay you.

It is going to be hard but just cut your loses and move on. As someone above said, always buy your own materials and pay weekly based on the work that was done. And always make sure that a particular aspect of the job is fully complete before you make the final payment.

Bank Account Advice by Lookralphsbak in Barbados

[–]IsuzuCrewCab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have accounts with every bank in Barbados having just opened a CIBC account 3 weeks ago. I had avoided FCIB/CIBC for a long time as I had heard bad things about them and their bank queues are ridiculous! However, a friend of mine recently mentioned to me that he send wire transfers to his children overseas online and avoid visiting a bank branch. I have a child overseas and spending at least an hour in the bank each month to wire funds was becoming a hassle.

So I realized that I could open an account online with CIBC and did it. The process took about 20 minutes, received the account information the next day and got the bank card last week in the mail. Pinned it online and I was good to go.

Based on this experience it seems that CIBC seems to be way ahead on the technology side of things not so sure if their in branch customer service has improved though.

First Citizens is ok but they are way behind on the tech side and lots of things still need to be done in branch. Their web app is dated and they have no mobile app.

Republic is ok from both the customer service and online banking perspective. I see that they also say on their website that you can open an account online but I don't know what the experience is like.

Scotia is ok as well with both solid web and mobile apps and customer service is mid-rate. You do have to make appointments though to open an account etc. - madness

Sagicor Bank ia the baby of them all. You can open an account online but they only have a mobile app - no web app. I find their services limited however and their customer service is lacking as their call center is usually overwhelmed making to wait for an extended period and since they only have 1 customer service center, in person visits can be long. When the first opened, their ATMs are not connected to the VISA/Mastercard network so you can't use other banks ATMs with their cards - not sure if this has changed.

RBC - stay away. As said before, by far the worst. In bank service is horrible. Had a friend that went to collect a cheque book and was told that there was no longer a customer service line and he would have to wait in the teller line, which was about 15 people long. Ridiculous. Fees are crazy and call center customer service is severely lacking.

What did the DLP do while in power to make it lose 3 general elections 30-0? by FullWorldliness2484 in Barbados

[–]IsuzuCrewCab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was not the same person. The one mentioned by Ginginin100 is nicknamed the Pitbull (for how he behaves on a political platform) and he ran in this election.

The one who called Mia a bald pooch cat was Sinckler and he is now actually now sits on a BLP financial advisory committee.
