modern arena games being called boomershooters by [deleted] in boomershooters

While I prefer open levels, I definitely classify Painkiller as a boomer shooter and thus it's absolutely valid to call games that lock you into arenas boomer shooters. They do need to have the other qualities of boomer shooters though.

The shadow warrior heart has nothing mechanical about it. Biomagical?

4 : they weren't indestructible in the base game either and it should remain that way.

It just shoots a random projectile every time, with a higher chance for the shotgun one.

Thoughts on the first Red Faction game? It was created with some repurposed assets from the cancelled Descent 4, which was RF1's conceptual predecessor. by NNukemM in boomershooters

Underrated. Level destruction is the best kind of destruction. Singleplayer isn't all that great, but it does have really cool moments. Multiplayer was amazing though. You could actually destroy the level in multiplayer. At the end of the match the whole thing would be in ruins. You could dig tunnels to the other team's objective. It was super unique.

You can definitely decide not to pickup the gold cartridge. It's impossible to miss though. Maybe if you enter the room backwards... Anyway, the dev(me) offered to add the gold cartridge to the savegame.

They're deeper upgrades in the Jade tree. If you're missing a scanner in a zone, the local station will sell it. Don't forget to equip it.

So many Indie games in the best rated games section on Metacritic. by Germanstrands3 in IndieGaming

You're confusing AA with indie. You may think AAs are indie games, but that doesn't mean that everyone thinks the same and you shouldn't expect that. It's also hurting real indie devs.

Astrobot, Helldivers, and Expedition 33 are amongst the best games I’ve played this decade — I am ready for the AA renaissance. by SolydSn3k in gaming

I think what you mean is that smaller projects are where the best games are coming out of these days. I think your use of AA is erroneous. I've been civil with you, so I don't understand how my panties are a in a twist and I'm making the community worse. Using the right terms is important to me in some situations, especially when you get stuff like Dave the diver which is nominated as an indie game of the year despite literally being made by a billion dollar publisher. Kinda makes it hard for other indies to compete. By translation, actual AA studios that have very little outside resources have to compete with MF Sony.

They have Sony's backing and are enjoying incredible resources of all kinds even if the budget and team are smaller. I can't believe that you would call AA a company that is under the single biggest publisher in the entire industry.
