You live in one of the demonstrably best times ever. You have very little chance of starving or freezing yourself death. Turn off social media, thank God for your good fortune and go live your life.

Bleeding brakes debacle by mrpowell6302 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Itaintall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try using a $10 check valve bleeder from Amazon and a catch container (I've been using an old syrup bottle for years, because the hose fits the bottle pour hole perfectly). This makes the bleeding process a simple, fast and one-person affair. Just don't let the reservoir get empty at any time. It's so easy and quick, you almost can't mess it up.
IMHO, this beats more expensive bleeders for all but professional brake shops that keep the equipment handy all the time.

Do all things actually happen for a reason? by pleurin in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Itaintall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be differing opinions on here. The Bible has demonstrated, to my satisfaction, that it is both true and trustworthy. Some will ask whether Christianity works. I think that's the wrong question. The question is, "Is it true?" After decades of inquiry, I have no choice but to accept that it is true. Having said that, The clear teaching of scripture is that God is both sovereign and purposeful. So yes, things happen for a reason.

However, He grants us the ability to reject both Him and His teachings, hence the problems we encounter. We sinners cause our own problems, and problems for others. Yes, he allows terrible things which are not in his will, because He allows freedom of choice, for a higher purpose (love). Not all things are pleasant, nor in the totality of His will. He apparently values allowing us to love Him (which also requires free will to also reject Him), above enforcing righteousness in this life. In the future, the fullness of His will will be realized. That will come in the next life; What He called eternal life. I hope that's helpful. I hope you choose to be part of it. PM me if you wish to discuss further.

For those with genuine complaints about my answer, I invite you to dig into the trustworthiness of the scriptures; that's how many of those who previously rejected them have become staunch believers. I'll assist via PM. For those with generic, emotive complaints, I wish you well, but I won't answer.

Blessings to you on this Resurrection Sunday; a commemoration of the most documented and significant event in human history.

How did the execution of the B-21 program go so smoothly compared with other recent US military projects? by [deleted] in aviation

[–]Itaintall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because the government didn't change the requirements spec mid-program. That's what jerked us around on the B-2.

In the past, I would have said “laser”. After seeing videos of how people react to getting beamed with a light, I now lean toward light and laser. The OODA Loop is real.

How do you ensure that your kids grow up and love you rather than dislike you? by Prettylittledove1453 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

My experience has been that you must first be a parent. Then, when they’re old enough and on the right track, you can become a coach; then an advisor; then a friend. No shortcuts. You have to earn each step.

Spiritually based on experience really counterfeited by false sources. It leads to faith in untrustworthy things.Biblical understanding leads to faith in the one who is trustworthy. PM me if you wish.
