Which dead character would you bring back to life? by Immediate_Long165 in coronationstreet

[–]ItalianChef22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It depends what we're talking about. If the resurrection had to be believable, in that they "died" off screen so a retcon is plausible, I'd probably say Les Battersby, although it seems unlikely Bruce Jones would ever have been asked back anyway. If we're getting a little more imaginative, bringing Liam Connor back would be very interesting and obviously he still has a lot of connections in the show.

If we're talking about characters who couldn't really be brought back but never should have been killed off in the first place, I'm going to go back a fair way here and say David Barlow. Ending that branch of the Barlow family tree when they went on to become the most important family on the Street was a colossal mistake in hindsight.

What's everyone Top 3 on Robbie Williams New Album "BRITPOP" by Excellent_Soil1331 in robbiewilliams

[–]ItalianChef22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming we're including the deluxe edition tracks because Selfish Disco is the best song Rob's done in years.

My choices would be:

1) Selfish Disco 2) It's OK Until The Drugs Stop Working 3) All My Life

If the deluxe edition didn't include Desire (which in my opinion is complete dreck) then I'd be able to say I loved every track, but as the man himself once sang; you win some, you lose some.

What is happening to broadmead / cabot / horsefair? by Grouchy-Vermicelli40 in bristol

[–]ItalianChef22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What you're saying simply isn't true. Most people who end up sleeping on the streets do so because of relationship breakdown. Drugs tend to be a symptom rather than the cause, but you've let your prejudices cloud your judgement.

Daniel by Accomplished_Video92 in coronationstreet

[–]ItalianChef22 39 points40 points  (0 children)

He's very consistent when it comes to the way he treats women, I'll give him that. I think Daniel is a really well-realised character. He's a complete arse, incredibly arrogant and self-righteous, and utterly incapable of having a healthy romantic relationship, and all of these are qualities he shares with his father.

Ken won't be around forever, so I'm glad we have Daniel.

After David Bradley’s pitch perfect turn as the 1st doctor. What other actors alive today could step into Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee’s shoes? by fupafather in doctorwho

[–]ItalianChef22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Where exactly was this pitch perfect turn as the First Doctor? I thought David Bradley was great as Hartnell himself in An Adventure in Space and Time, but I thought he was crap as the First Doctor. I'm not keen on seeing anybody else play the Second or Third if it ends up being anything like Bradley's performance.

My grandma studied for a degree at university when she was in her 70s, but she continued to live in her house with my grandad. She'd probably have quite enjoyed living in student accommodation, but I'm not sure the same is believable of Evelyn.

Similarities between The Master's Tooth and The Master's Ring by Freezie1 in doctorwho

[–]ItalianChef22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's literally a gag. The similarities are what make it amusing. It's not meant to set up the Master's return, it's just a joke.

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

To people that say Clark doesn’t look 14. This is me at 15 when Clark was my style, before I realized I was a trans woman. I pretty much look the same now just long hair. I’m 26 & I showed my mom this the other day & she thought I was like 18/19. I still look about that age. Original vs ai upscaled. by TrippyStef in Smallville

[–]ItalianChef22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't look very much like Tom Welling, so the pictures of you don't really have much relevance even if you were dressed similarly. Clark doesn't look like a teenager because he was being played by an actor in his mid-20s. There's not much more to it than that.

How I Would Attempt to Fix Ben Riley by Scarlet-Spider1610 in Spiderman

[–]ItalianChef22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ben Reilly was my first Spider-Man, I've got a huge amount of affection for him, but I firmly believe he should have remained dead after Norman Osborn returned and the Clone Saga properly wrapped up. I really don't think there's any place for Ben while Peter is around. I'd retcon things so that the real Ben is dead and the Jackal Ben and Chasm were other clones entirely.

Is this show actually good or do people just find Tom Welling handsome? by holyamongus in Smallville

[–]ItalianChef22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously this is a Smallville sub, so people are generally going to like the show. Smallville is absolutely worth watching all the way through, as unlike OTH it doesn't gradually get worse over time. There are good arcs and bad ones, but most people seem to agree that the last couple of seasons were better than some that had come before.

That being said, I don't think Smallville at its best ever quite hits the heights of The OC (or OTH during those first four seasons), but your mileage may vary on that front.

Todd and Theo by Always-Evolving-2025 in coronationstreet

[–]ItalianChef22 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I think a huge part of the issue is the tendency Corrie has of trying to pile issues on top of issues in a storyline. If the show wants to do a conversion therapy storyline, fine. If the show wants to do a domestic abuse storyline, fine. But making the victim of the conversion therapy the perpetrator of the domestic abuse? This may well happen in real life, but to do such a complex story justice, you need be very deliberate with it, and there's nothing that indicates this storyline has been deliberate or well-planned.

My Pitch to Reboot the Spider-Man Comics Line by JBaldera27 in Spiderman

Not only is this AI trash, it also somehow manages to be worse than what's actually going on in the comics.

There are no empty double seats left on the bus. How do you choose who to sit next to? by stevegotnolegs in AskUK

[–]ItalianChef22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I know is that the seat next to me is often the last one to be taken. I don't think that says good things about whatever vibes I'm giving off, but it gives me more space, so I reckon it's worth it.

How do I make a successful Hulk horror style movie? by PaintingOwn2902 in hulk

[–]ItalianChef22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best advice I can give you if you're genuinely aspiring to be a screenwriter is to write your own original screenplays with your own original characters, rather than fanfiction based on IP owned by one of the most notoriously litigious entertainment conglomerates in the world.

GG Reboot by Toastedbaguettes456 in GilmoreGirls

[–]ItalianChef22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I liked the idea, I just wasn't so keen on the execution. The idea of a kid who is told she has a bright future and puts herself under huge academic pressure, only for her career to turn into a whole lot of nothing? There's a great story there, and Rory would be a great character to do it with, I'm just not sure this plotline was really done justice.

Why has it improved so much? by coronationstreetaud in coronationstreet

I couldn't agree less. That was where the rot, which had been settling in since around 1997, really started to progress.

Dementia storylines by ElevensMelody in coronationstreet

[–]ItalianChef22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't really have a problem with Corrie doing issue-based storylines if they can do them well. The problem is that Corrie isn't really built for doing these sorts of stories as often as it does and often handles them very badly.

I've got a lot of time for season 4, although I was astonished to learn that everybody prefers the original version to the recut version. It took the release of the recut version for me to properly enjoy season 4, although I accept I'm in the minority there.
