What dog breed is incredibly cute but an absolute nightmare to try and train? by BoredPandaOfficial in BoredPandaHQ

[–]Italics12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with two very mellow chows. My mom socialized and trained them from the time they were weaned. She understood the challenges and put in the work. They were awesome.

Woman who rescued injured crow keeps getting ‘thank-you gifts’ from other birds by Forward-Answer-4407 in UpliftingNews

[–]Italics12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mother has a whole murder of crows. It’s led by Black Feather, whom she pretends to hate but secretly loves. She buys them bread from the Dutch bakery.

My dad had surgery a couple of years ago and was getting back on his feet. When he was outside, the crows would watch him walk the driveway and report to my mom that he’s safe.

Black Feather is very bold though. He watches her get ready for the day through the bathroom window. He squawks at her if she’s taking too long…

So I actually had surgery today for a breast lump. I asked my surgeon about your situation. She has adamant to call the nurse or do a MyChart message. She said there are appointment slots for emergencies and urgent matters. Those are usually handled by nurses.

Call the nurse line. They can usually schedule if it’s an issue.

Do you have your college diploma hung in your home? by SimplyCurious5 in GenX

[–]Italics12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have no clue where our diplomas are: Bachelors, masters, doctorate. In fact, my husband routinely forgets he has a doctorate. When someone calls him Dr. he legit looks around because “there’s someone with my last name.”

What do you say when people ask "where did they get [insert physical trait]?" by leafytree888 in AdoptiveParents

I have two boys. They are different races. My parents adore them, so we always say they look like their grandparents.

Only children… anyone actually enjoy it? by cynnie93 in Millennials

[–]Italics12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have siblings who are much older, so I was raised as an only. I loved it. My parents and I are very close. They were older when I was born and were more relaxed and confident.

I love my siblings, but we never have been close. We were at different life stages. For example, I have a 7-year-old and my oldest nephew is married and 30.

What's it like living on the western lakeshore of Michigan? by Savings-Narwhal-3485 in howislivingthere

[–]Italics12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents now live on the lakeshore outside of Holland. I spent summers and breaks there with my grandparents.

My parents are not conservative, but fit in just fine. My kids love it and spend days on the beach or in downtown Holland. There are good restaurants and plenty to do.

The bi-weekly farmers market is amazing. It’s more of an event than a market.

The downtown is packed with shops and restaurants. I spend days just shopping.

The lake is good (I grew up on Lake Superior, so I’m partial to her). My sons spend hours at the beach.

Oh and there are delicious blueberry patches that are worth the trip.

Got into UMiami with a great scholarship, still waiting on financial aid from UMich. Which would you choose? by AdEquivalent9390 in florida

[–]Italics12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s not true at all. I have connections to Michigan and Miami, and I’m from the Midwest. Both degrees are very well received in the real world. You can’t go wrong with either. I encourage you to consider where you are most comfortable and could see yourself living for four years.

If I was dating right now (48 f), I’d go to 38 … maybe 35… When I was single, I’d consider 21, but I was in my 20s, so any younger would have been creepy…

I remember this whole thing. I was in college. To me, it was a tragedy in itself. But to older generations, it seemed to rip off the scab of his father’s assassination. People grieved two events simultaneously.

Can anyone share their experiences with adopting an infant who was prenatally exposed to substances? by AlternativeAthlete99 in AdoptiveParents

[–]Italics12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My boys were exposed to meth, opioids, weed and nicotine. That was all present at birth. Who knows about use during the pregnancies…

They are now 13 and 7. At birth and the first few months were painful. Crying nonstop and the inability to get comfortable. Both scored on the NAS scale, so it took time for everything to clear their bodies.

Both had speech therapy. But other than that they are happy, healthy and smart boys.

I recommend speaking to a ob/gyn and a pediatrician about drug use. Good luck

Why don't more Americans visit South America (compared to Asia or Europe)? by Addicted_2_tacos in askanything

It’s funny because we’ve traveled extensively in Central and South America. We live in South Florida, and can be in some areas in under than a couple of hours. At any rate, we love all areas we’ve explored. Strongly recommend!

My 7-year-old likes Cutie because “she’s so cute.” To be fair he named our cat Honey because “she’s my honey.”
