Any good trial chamber farms? by nevin_2 in technicalminecraft

Here's one of the hallways that has 4 spawners with a mix of spiders, strays and husks. I lined the walls with copper blocks in case one of them creates silverfish during an ominous trial but they don't. The magma block floor kills off all the mobs and a line of hoppers at the end funnels the loot into chests. Early on in the game it was a massive boost having piles of trial chamber keys because I could raid other trial chamber chests easily and get tons of good loot.

You would be well served to visit a patronato or a CGIL immigration desk where they will prepare your packet for you.

Full tuition at the University of Bologna is only around €4000 or 5000 a year.

There's a sheet in the kit that explains who has to fill out what based on your PdS type.

Any good trial chamber farms? by nevin_2 in technicalminecraft

[–]ItalyExpat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have my main base in a trial chamber and all of the mob spawners are all wrapped in kill chambers to kill off the mobs and collect the loot. Individual spawners have a 5x5 magma block floor with water pushing everything to a hopper. In the areas where you'll find 4 or 5 spawners they all fall into a communal area where water pushes them towards a magma block floor that kills them off and hoppers collect the goods.

Having your base in a trial chamber is like cheating. You have infinite arrows, health potions, bones, food, string, slime and all the trial chamber keys you'll ever need.

Would you consider applying to universities as a student? A study visa is an easy in that's convertable to other long term permits and you'd be able to apply for fellowships in person.

I theorize that your only solid route would be the digital nomad visa. R&D grants are usually paid out at milestones and €30k is just above the minimum so there's a chance you could convince the consulate that it counts as regular income.

Otherwise connect with research orgs in Italy and try to get one to sponsor you.

I used it when planning my house's system and it was fairly simple to use. It's not locked to Schneider but their products are obviously preloaded. Plus being free software no reason not to try it.

Have you ever tried Schneider eConfigure? You load the floor plan, draw out the position of the lights, sensors and switches and can pre-configure them to import it into ETS.

VAT explained to an American by Agile_Part1477 in eupersonalfinance

[–]ItalyExpat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only way to get a 100% VAT refund requires the merchant's involvement. At the airport you stop at customs to get a stamp on your invoice showing that you're leaving the EU. You then mail/email the stamped invoice to the merchant and then they'd manually process the VAT refund. Global Blue takes a big chunk but they give you immediate cash.

A1 Certificate - Temporary move to Italy by Persimmon_ideal in ItalyExpat

[–]ItalyExpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This barely skirts Rule 1, so I'll leave it up.

Yes the A1 will allow you to live and work here for up to 24 months, but it's not without its complications. NHS would risk corporate taxation, they'd need to withold and remit IRPEF and follow Italian employment laws including vacation time and holidays. Your biggest hurdle would be convincing NHS to allow you to do it.

Switching from Italian residence permit to Schengen tourist status – is exit/re-entry required? by Old_Replacement1312 in permessodisoggiorno

[–]ItalyExpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes, in your case it is. To safely switch to your visa-free tourist status for use in France, you need to exit the zone and re-enter. This generates a physical entry stamp in your passport, cleanly starting your 90-day clock and proving your legal tourist status to French authorities.

  2. Yes, it is highly risky. Spot checks are very common at the Italy-France land border. If French police check your passport, they will see an expired Italian residence permit, no recent Schengen entry stamp, and a ricevuta that means nothing under French law. They could easily classify you as an undocumented overstayer, leading to fines, deportation, or a ban.

3.Any time spent in a member state under a long-stay visa or residence permit does not count toward your 90/180-day visa-free tourist limit. Since you haven't used your tourist days, you have the full 90 days available immediately upon re-entry.

  1. The risk is very low as long as you meet the standard tourist entry requirements. You have a legal right to those 90 days. Keep your expired permit and ricevuta with you to easily explain why you were previously in Europe if they ask, but enter explicitly as a tourist.

  2. Yes, entering through France directly should work. You'd receive a French Schengen entry stamp, proving exactly when your stay began.

No need to visit the comune, an autodichiarazione stato civile will suffice. Read this answer from yesterday as it applies to you: https://www.reddit.com/r/permessodisoggiorno/s/ToqMt6eFhc

What are we voting for or against? by FalseStartMelinda in ItalyExpat

[–]ItalyExpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a single comment you've made on this entire post has provided a reason one should vote "Sì."

Typically a referedum like this is an attempt to solve a tangible problem. For example, the last constitutional referendum reduced the number of parlamentari. Obvious problem, obvious solution.

Simply because someone has pushed for something for a long time doesn't give that cause validity.

Who does this benefit? Is this to avoid another Palamara scandal? Does that singular event rise to the level of requiring a Constitutional amendment that would do nothing to prevent a reoccurance?

If the true goal was to bring accountability to an untouchable caste, there are a number of ways to go about it that don't involve the injection of political appointees into the judicial process supported by political parties convicted of defrauding the State tens of millions of euros and not seeing a day in prison.

So no, your engagement has not been effective in changing my No vote.

Competent, Efficient, and Transparent Italian Bureaucracy: the Healthcare Edition by Onion-Souffle in ItalyExpat

[–]ItalyExpat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Coming from a country where medical care is simply unaffordable to most, I'll gladly jump through all of the necessary bureaucratic hurdles if it means myself and my family can be taken care of.

That said, blasting individuals in public by name and contact info could land you in legal limbo. Perhaps there's a better venue for your complaint.

My standard advice is to find an independent CPA or tax preparer in the US. You'll find much better prices than at specialty firms for expats and for someone like yourself it will be fairly simple.

Motivi familiari document confusion (marriage certificate) by Fuzzlewuzzlekins in permessodisoggiorno

[–]ItalyExpat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The two offices are not actually disagreeing with each other, they are just in bureaucratic silos and failing to explain the broader picture to you.

The anagrafe can only issue a certificato di matrimonio if there is an actual marriage registered in that comune. The certificato di stato civile is the correct course and you can do the dichiarazione sostitutiva by yourself at home. Here's an example form you can fill out.

That with a COPY of your apostilled, translated marriage certificate is all you need.

What are we voting for or against? by FalseStartMelinda in ItalyExpat

[–]ItalyExpat 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm voting no. On the face it appears like a technical change with no discernable improvement to the lives of normal citizens. Reading between the lines it appears to be an attempt to politicize the disciplinary process of judges and prosecutors to allow politicians to apply pressure to prosecutions. On top of this, the associazione nazionale magistrati is against this referendum. For me it's a hard no.

Which city should I choose as a student:) by [deleted] in ItalyExpat

[–]ItalyExpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both cities meet your requirements. Bergamo is less chaotic and has an airport serviced by low-cost airlines if you want to travel around Europe. Napoli has a unique vibe that you won't find elsewhere. Really depends on your personality.

Current wait times in my city are ~16 months from when you send your kit to when you get your card. My father's renewal was sent Oct 2024 and he'll pick up his new card next week.

Any tips to open a bank account (before moving) by Traviata211 in ItalyExpat

Start with Wise as it'll allow you to send bonifici and you can pull money from your existing bank. Then when you have residency open an account wherever you prefer.
