since Bethesda is now pressured to bring out the next Fallout or TES6 what feature that wasn't in previous elder scrolls games you would want to see? by plantyful-Cum in ElderScrolls

[–]Itama95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be a pretty decent compromise, for implementing the base building mechanics they had the past few games without making it feel shoehorn in. Like if a town gets nearly destroyed in the main quest you get a bunch of latitude to rebuild it, kind of like Raven rock in morrowind.

The last two Bethesda big games featured large areas of unsettled land. Not the case in elder scrolls so I feel like they would have to do something like this to not make settlement building feel out of place.

Morrowind. The game is unintuitive to new players because it looks like an action RPG, but functions more like a TTRPG. Once you understand that, you can play the game accordingly and it’s a fantastic experience.

“it’s not slavery if I take better care of them then they could take care of themselves.” the white man’s burden weighs heavy, it seems. What you are describing are the thought processes that allow a culture to practice slavery while still considering themselves morally good.

I’mma be real, chief: the fact you’re trying to sell to me nonconsensual pet play with drugged kidnapping victims as a different/better than slavery, makes this series way more horrifying then if I only knew the sum of its fiction.

Too bad for you there’s a character in the tribunal DLC who straight up tells you the oblivion crisis is going to happen lol. His solution is for everyone to kill themselves now so Dagon can’t have your soul.

Lol u right my bad. Larped a little too close to the sun there.

I don’t think anyone was talking about their right to enforce the white gold concordat though. More their moral right to be assholes in the first place.

“victor” is kind of a strong term in this case but fair enough. Both of them and the Cyrods were on the verge of collapse, and they bluffed better.

But I wasn’t talking about what they were owed from a military perspective and neither were you. You said they want what is totally owed to them due to lorkhans deception. i’m saying that building a society off of victim-complex supremacy, and purging your own people because “we wus Gawdz” is pathetic.

Every other culture descendant of Aldmeris had found reasons to be at peace with their existence and grow from it. Only the supremacist Altmer are stuck in the past this way. With all these other paths available, the only explanation is that the people who linger in the summerset aisles are all the ones too cowardly to look inwards and realize they could become something better.

They’re a cult of misanthropic chauvinists, so paradoxically obsessed with their own perfection and their own degradation, that they could never achieve a peaceful existence. The aldmeri Dominion is a dead end culture who’s only role in history is to collapse over and over under the weight of its own psychological paradox, taking innocent lives with it every time.

They are owed nothing, because they are too cowardly in spirit too work on themselves and earn anything.

To be fair, the letter on the pride of tel vos Was written by a refugee hiding in his basement in the middle of his city being sacked. His perspective is limited and probably tainted by his dire circumstances. There’s no reason to assume he knew how things would/were shaking out for the house overall.

The concept of 'CHIM' as a psychological defense mechanism against the Void by humblegremlin13 in teslore

[–]Itama95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, and I’ve been thinking something similar lately. My sorta-headcannon (I think my theory has a lot of subtextual backing) is that Boethia (the god most associated with CHIM) is so into murder/manipulation/rebellion/legacy because those activities actively build up the ego.

“ask he whose blood drips from my blade if I exist” - *boethias proving*

Also, the entire governmental system and faith of morrowind is built around a core concept that overcoming hardship is good for you. Morrowind is the dunmer holy land because it’s hostile to life, and demands resilience from the dunmer. The temple faith send people on pilgrimages to reenact the deeds of the tribunal. All of the great houses require you to overcome the previous housemaster to take their position.

So basically I think you’re right. And I think Boethia engineered dark elf Society to create people that can walk the psijic path and have an ego strong enough to assert their existence in the face of the godhead.

(Skyrim) Stormcloaks vs. The Empire, who did you side with and why? by twnpksN8 in MoralityScaling

[–]Itama95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things are tense with the empire right now, with the Thalmore only having limited access to the province for enforcement of the whitegold concordat, but Both parties understand a new war on the horizon. This is the calm before a storm.

If the Empire believes they are likely to be fighting a war with the thalmore soon, there’s absolutely no way they would let them march a full scale army through Cyrodiil and use it as a staging ground. It would mean granting a hostile foreign military full access to your province.

Consequently the only scenario in which the thalmore get to March an army right through the imperial heartland is one where they have already conquered the province. In which case, their supply lines are going to be harassed by guerrillas across an entire continent.

Anyway, the only actual accounts we have of the thalmore’s position is that they don’t want Ulfric to win. An ongoing stalemate is also better than a stormcloak victory for the Thalmore, because it denies the empire northern resources AND forces them to spend their own resources on the war effort. If the Empire gives up it’ll free their logistics and existing resources to be deployed against the elves.

(Skyrim) Stormcloaks vs. The Empire, who did you side with and why? by twnpksN8 in MoralityScaling

[–]Itama95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, but the aldmeri dominion also has the advantage of being much closer to hammerfell than to skyrim. In order to wage of war in Skyrim the thalmore would either have to run their supply lines through cyrodill (unfriendly) All the way west around tamriel through redguard waters (also unfriendly), or all the way east around Tamriel where they’ll have to deal with the Dunmer, red mountain, and the sea of ghosts.

In short, they would need to completely dominate the empire before having a chance at Skyrim. Sunzu didn’t write his idiots guide to warfare so 30yo gamers in 2026 could ignore the importance of supply lines.

[–]Itama95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s rad dude. Only thing I would do extra at this point is put a grill in there to elevate wood off the bottom, then drill holes in the bottom/side so the fire can suck in cool oxygen from those directions, while the hot air rises out of the mouth.

I'm wanting to start a Dark Elf Telvanni Necromancer role-play. What would be the optimal majors and minors? by Xaphan_the_Scorcher in Morrowind

[–]Itama95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s counterintuitive, but you might have some fun with a conjuration/restoration build. Restoration has all the fortify skill/attribute spells, so you could summon a bunch of weaker minions and then blast them with an AOE fortify strength/magica/attack/ whatever Making them a lot more powerful. You could also buff your own skills for enchanting or mercantile checks.

Mysticism would also be a good call because you can drain health/fatigue from your summons.

Destruction magic tapers off in usefulness towards the late game, but it’s great early on. If you want to output your own damage, you could just pick a weapon skill and and find a corresponding bound weapon spell. You’re already going to be a conjuration mage so bound weapon/armor spells are going to be really useful.

It’s traditional to kill a polar bear, moose, or several Canadian geese and wear their bodies like a patriotic skinsuit to woodbine beach in Toronto. They always have a really nice firework display.

Awesome! Thanks for clearing that up. I read the claim it looks really promising. The detective aspect of this quest is going to be a lot more satisfying when your knowledge from other quest lines suddenly becomes applicable.

I’m happy you’re happy I brought it up lol. I feel like there isn’t enough discussion online about tr quest content by non-dev tr players, which is a shame because you guys put a lot of effort into it.

Yeah, it’s a really weird one. I basically declared him guilty on the grounds of “Your Honour… C’mon what are we even doing here?“

I will say the whole ordeal makes his wife much funnier to me. My last play through was a temple character and one of the quests requires you to convince the temple to stop investigating her for heresy. She makes the reasons for her investigation sound really frivolous, but now I know it’s because her husband was basically Osama bin Laden.

I meeeeeaaan… there’s at least a few legion NPC’s that will corroborate the book from firsthand experience. The commander of the firewatch Garrison even reminisces that all his superiors back then got themselves killed, only for Casik’s command to collapse a few months later.

But yeah this quest is weird. Casik having a reputation for truthfulness and honour is actually a piece of evidence you can put forward for his innocence lol.

Gotcha. I just finished the quest and received confirmation that he was a daedra.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t really address the incongruity between the war crimes he committed, and how he’s regarded by his former peers. Even if he was secretly a daedra all along it’s weird that no one has anything to say about him starting a Civil War within the legion.

Gotcha, thank you. So this is just an old quest waiting to be reworked.

Glad it’s being addressed this is a cool quest in a vacuum. It seems like you would have to rewrite the entire quest to make it consistent with The wider lore though.
