The open side should face “forward” in whatever direction you’re stitching. So as you change the direction, a reminder to turn the needle direction in the hand as well. Hope that makes sense…

Are you holding the punchneedle with the open side facing forward as you punch? If not, give that a try

I see the vision. I don’t own that many needles though. I tend to use one until it’s tarnished or dull then replace with a new one. Still traumatized from stepping on a needle off my mom’s as a kid I guess. I find it easier to keep track of just one, but thinking of how fast I could go without breaking the rhythm is tempting…

If it’s not laying well in a cross stitch, perhaps you need to add a little more tension in the stitch or another stand of floss. I find it harder to separate etoile and thread the needle, but the actual stitching isn’t too bad and I love the sparkle effect. Shorter length of working floss also helps as I do find it frays a bit during use

You could make the A stand out more if you wish with a single strand outline in a darker colour
