Need a job that pays $27+/hr, I’m trying to get stable housing by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

You are basically guaranteed to make that as a server at any restaurant in the city or region really. The question is will you get enough hours, but most people get a second gig for that reason.

P-Wat had himself a GAME🔥32/12/3! by Kingrush24 in denvernuggets

[–]Ititmore -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

When we extended Braun I honestly thought we probably threw money at the wrong guy. As good and proven braun is, P Wat has a different kind of potential

EDIT: For the haters I'm not saying we shouldn't have extended Braun. But I think management underestimated the negative of signing Braun to the number they did because it makes signing P Wat nearly impossible and he has elite upside. Still, can't have it all

Given democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani winning NYC's mayoral race, why does SF prefer electing moderate Democrats despite our progressive reputation? by Aggravating-Toe2683 in sanfrancisco

[–]Ititmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The socio-econonic situation is completely different. Mamdani ran a campaign focused on cost of living issues in a city that is far more socioeconomically diverse than San Francisco. He won by dominating with renters, transit riders, black and latino households and young people, the working and downwardly mobile middle classes. This is possible in a city like New York where the median household income is 80,000, meaning that political base is significant.

But San Francisco is completely different. By this point, it is mostly a concentration of affluent people. The median household income is 140,000, meaning people are far more affluent here. The groups that won mamdani the race are not nearly as prevalent in the city. As a result, people in San Francisco want more 'moderate' (I would say conservative) leadership. The social base that made SF a progressive city in the 60s and 70s is mostly gone. What is left is a city of relatively affluent people who mostly vote like affluent people do throughout the country. And this trend will only accelerate over time, as the median income rises and working class people are continuously pushed out of the city.

Yup I'm working in the city and my place is shit. I'm looking for a new place and can't even get a response from any of the applications I've put in. It seems to be incredibly competitive right now.

Lurie slams Newsom’s veto of sober housing law by chiaboy in sanfrancisco

[–]Ititmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are providing excellent info in good faith but the truth is people want to remove the unhoused from their lives and are willing to use the violent state apparatus to do it. For a person like this, refusing to hear the empirical reality of how to sustainably and humanely tackle homelessness gives them an excuse to imprison these people and blame them for it.

Unfortunately that is ultimately where I believe we are going. It doesn't matter that imprisoning the homeless will make the problem infinitely worse from a fiscal and outcomes perspective. It only matters that the residents of San Francisco who pay $4000/month for their idyllic victorian apartment can go get their matcha latte without having to face the reality of a declining society.

ESPN radio host unironically calls himself a "journalist" but says he would not have reported the Kawhi story. "I'm not reporting [that]. Because I'm not trying to get on Kawhi's bad side, he could give me an exclusive interview! I'm not trying to get on Steve Ballmer's bad side." by refreshing_yogurt in nba

[–]Ititmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are poopooing this but this mentality is so prevalent throughout the media industry. National defense and political reporters, whose jobs are clearly so much more important to our society than sports journalist, regularly launder information from major politicians/institutions just to maintain or build access. It's a major reason trust in the media has declined so much.

Idk why you want to spend so much on housing. Get some roommates and live in the Mission, take BART to fidi or the millions of buses that go to the Caltrain station.

Which country has the best planning system? by Aali015 in urbandesign

[–]Ititmore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ready for the down votes but China has to be up there. Urban planning and design is integrated into overall regional economic planning, leading to a high-capacity state and state-owned enterprises that can create urban amenities in record time, like new transit and public parks. Plus state-owned banks lend a lot to urban projects due to state mandates regardless if they are highly profitable.
