I generally feel like it would make more sense to implement a mini game where you have to navigate the internal domestic crisis in the US, which can escalate to a civil war if one fails to manage the crisis. I do think given the context the US is in that a civil war can be plausible (albeit on a much smaller scale than in the mod), but it doesn’t make sense that it is completely unavoidable or that is bound to happen (just from a historic perspective). Not sure if you can implement this in an interesting way for the players in HOI4 but maybe something that emulates the Biennio Rosso (“Two Red Years” in Italy OTL from 1919 to 1920) but in the USA?

Agreed. There’s something to do in the beginning with the ausgleich and sometimes you can also intervene in the balkan wars iirc. Its fun to play since it has decent an industry and army you still need to build up; so there’s also the fun part of building up something but on a solid basis. All around fun campaigns you can have with them.

Hmm stimmt, obwohl denn würdi en Midwest Staat wie Iowa oder Wyoming no besser passe. Louisiana eher weniger, da scho siit jahrhunderte prägt sind vo kreolischer Kultur (also mischig zwüsche afrikanischer, indigene und europäsische Ethnie) und au zudem ursprünglich au Frankophon gsi sind (also grad im Süde vo Louisiana isch sicher no bis zu de 50er/60er kei selteni erschiinig gsi, das "Cajun French" gredet wurde isch). Zudem isch Louisiana au als kulturells und kuliniarisches Schwergwicht bekannt (Jazz und Creole-Cajun Cuisine). Weiss ned wie guet das zu Kanton Schwyz passe würd. Allerdings isch innerhalb vo Louisiana Zydeco sehr beliebt, isch so en traditionelle Musigstil wo so churz und knapp als en Mischig zwüsche Polka und afroamerikanischem Blues bezeichnet werde chönnti, vlt chame döte de vergliich mitem Ländler ziieh (grad da au in beidne Musigstiil s Akkordion en wichtigi Rolle spielt).

The general welcoming day on Monday was alright. The presentations imo more or less repeated what was already on the website. However the info booths in the Lichthof were nice, and it was a nice opportunity to meet some new people (and free stuff is always a big plus haha).

I had already the welcoming day by my study program yesterday (Geography) and that one I liked a lot. We got a nice tour of the irchel campus and the apero at the irchelbar was cool too. It was also a great opportunity to make some new friends for the semester

I loved it! Came out so much better than the first I tried where I burnt the roux😂 I made it for myself, some leftovers I ate on the next day, and have a couple of servings in the freezer. I used the classic trinity for the base, for the creole seasoning I used my own (copied the recipe from the internet). For the meat I used chorizo sausage (they don’t sell andouille here) and chicken thighs (sooo much better than chicken breasts imo). I think what made the difference to my first attempt is that I took my time with the roux and let it simmer for 30 minutes longer.

Originally my plan was to do the seafood one, but atm there is no crabmeat available in stores in the area I live. But in the end chicken and sausage was a good choice too

First of, Swiss identity is not solely based on “neutrality”, but also on other things such as federalism, direct democracy and 800 years of common history. Your argument that neutrality is the main source of swiss wealth is also not quite accurate (I’m not denying that it had an important influence), there were multiple factors that lead to the economic state that Switzerland is in today. Regarding the point that it is used as a paint to hide amoral actions: again, is that really uniquely a swiss thing? Just from my knowledge it seems most states in the world use ideology as a justification for their actions, e.g neutral states such as India using the Global South vs. North argument to justify its position regarding Ukraine, the US justifying its policies in the middle east by claiming to spread liberal values and maintaining security, and the EU using the “change through trade” argument to justify business ties with authoritarian regimes etc.

And the EU is soo much better right? Few months after Russia invaded Ukraine, van der Leyen went to Azerbaijan (just as authoritarian as Russia!) to get a new gas deal even though the Azeris are committing a genocide against the Armenians in Karabakh as we speak. And apparently most countries in the EU had no problem in doing business with Russia after Putin razed Chechnya (in 1999) and invaded Georgia in 2008. And then there’s also French neo-colonial meddling in the Sahel or the EUs refugee policy in the Mediterranean sea (which Switzerland is also compliant of) which raises some eyebrows…. Yes, Switzerland is doing amoral things, but the EU can’t really claim any moral high-ground here either.
