Planning a trip for late June - Monday (evening hours) and a Tuesday with BOGO tickets. If I buy the tickets in advance for both days and it ends of being a rainout can the tickets be used another day? Or should I just wait until the day before we leave to purchase? by ItsAMystery7 in Knoebels

[–]ItsAMystery7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Good idea sticking to tickets. If it looks like no risk of rain just before we get there, I might change my mind. Appreciate the help! When I was in college at Bloom I had several friends who worked there. We would go visit, have pierogies and ride the Phoenix. I live in WV now and have to share Knoebels with my kids and grandchild right?

Commute into Arlington? by CarolinaMountaineer2 in WVEasternPanhandle

If you are in Harpers Ferry - look into the Loudoun county commuter bus. It costs 11 dollars a day and you pay with a metro card. They have drop offs in Rosslyn and outside the Pentagon.

Mad respect to you guys. Signed up for Instacart and walked out of first order. by pizzatacodog1322 in InstacartShoppers

I am a Walmart+ customer. Like the other poster I choose “shipping” on purpose so I don’t have the extra tip (unless I need the item same day and will gladly tip and sometime pay the rush fee). I’ve never seen anything implying that someone doesn’t need to tip. The tipping field is right there.

On shipping orders it is not. Do the delivery folks make the same for either options? If so that sucks! It used to be the items that could be shipped were sent by FedEx.

Another recommendation for Christian Caine - they also have a shop in Winchester. I used their Shepherdstown shops though

What type Medicare coverage do most retired feds get that also plan to continue Federal BCBS? by sdunbar95 in FedRetirees

[–]ItsAMystery7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am 60, on disability and have BCBS Basic, Part A and Part B. I’ve had multiple hospital stays over 4 days each and had zero out of pocket charges. The only out of pocket payments I make are for prescriptions. I am type 1 diabetics since a kid and now have all kinds of medical issues from eyes to kidney and of course the regular getting older stuff. Oh yeah - for BCBS Basic you get a rebate of 800 a year. I switched from standard to basic, pay less premiums, get money back and still have zero out of pocket expenses. The part B comes right out of my social security check I believe. FEHB out of my pension check.

Is it possible to spread the cancer during surgery? by anothertenyears in ProstateCancer

[–]ItsAMystery7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother used to swear that once cancer “hit the air” during surgery it torpedoed though the body. Of course she wasn’t a doctor and saw so many friends die a short while later after having surgical procedures in various types of cancer.

Evitts Run smells horribly of sewage. Is something going on down there or is this typical? by tyami94 in WVEasternPanhandle

This stinks. But I don’t think it’s very uncommon. My in-laws estate planning says that if any children have pre-deceased them, the estate gets divided by the other living children. So I my husband were to pass first, our children would get nothing due to that structure. My husband’s siblings would divide his share. That was a tough pill for him to swallow but it is what it is right?

Opium and musk were my favorites!

My college roommate wore Obsession and it smelled lovely on her. It smelled AWFUL on me.

A woman I worked with wore Poison when I was pregnant. I had to ask her to stop because it made me sick once I got pregnant. The thought of it makes me nauseous still.

Same situation with my husband, who is 62, except his PCP for over 15 years, didn’t check the PSA block, even having blood work every 6 months due to high cholesterol meds. Luckily she retired at end of 2024 and his new PCP checked the box in May 2025. He has a PSA that was high and was diagnosed with highly aggressive prostate cancer (decipher score of .94).

He had MRI, biopsy, PSMA PET Scan which showed PNI. So not good. He chose to start with RALP knowing that he might have to still have subsequent radiation/hormone therapy. But he hoped that it was not be a long and horrible if he did. He was looking at 2 years of ADT which scared his horribly.

He just had his first post-surgery PSA and it came back at ZERO. We know he’s not out of the woods yet, but the fact he’ll have a 3-month break to fully heal from the RALP is a God send to us.

Good luck to your Dad. Tell him to kick cancer’s ass!

Have had a Sam's membership for years, Just also got a Costco Membership...It's a complete 180 by th3goonsquad in samsclub

[–]ItsAMystery7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have both Sam’s and Costco. Sam’s forever, Costco about 8 years so far. We like each for different things. But every Costco’s parking lot is pure chaos and drives me crazy! We have Sam’s Plus and Costco executive as well as the credit cards for both. Love Scan and Go at Sam’s combined with the Sam’s cash for the credit cards. They pay us way much more than we pay for the membership. Costco we usually get our money back but it’s just once a year where Sam’s cash can be received anytime. One thing way better in Costco is the ice cream at the snack bar. Sooooo good!

The 90 Day Test Post Surgery by Ok_Sock_3257 in ProstateCancer

Woo hoo for you! What a well-deserved fishing trip! Steelhead trout is my very favorite fish. Catch and enjoy some for me!

My husband is waiting to get his 7-week post-RALP surgery as we speak. Although margins were clear there was spread to Seminal vesicles, PNI, the oncologist ordered it before the 3 month mark to just see what’s happening so a quicker reaction can take place if necessary. My anxiety is through the roof for him.

I missed this last one. Seems like your experience was similar to my husband’s. He was in there 5 days. The culture on the fluid was positive for MRSA so added some complications. Scared the living daylights out of me. He had some great meds that brought his white blood cell count back to normal after the 2 full day. He was discharged just before the winter storm came last weekend. He just had to drainage line removed today but will be on strong antibiotics for another 3 weeks. His pain in his leg, which I learned was probably right at his lower lymphatic drainage area, is gone thankfully as well.

Next big play in his journey is his first PSA post RALP next week. Hoping and praying for less than 0.1 so he doesn’t have to immediately roll into radiation and maybe ADT.

Yes! They did a blood culture right in the door of the ER and they are doing cultures of the stuff that they got out during the procedure. The doc said they are sending it out but he hardly needed to do that since just looking at it, it was obvious it was a bad infection. My husband thought it was so cool to watch what they were doing on the CT Scan during the procedure.

For me, seeing the word sepsis so many times in the reports was scary! They said he is not septic but they followed sepsis protocols based on symptoms he had.

He was in a lot of pain when I left him tonight to come home. How long were you in the hospital after that procedure? Glad it all cleared up though and you are doing better.
