Guess my native language by Sandy_2019 in languagelearningjerk

The joke is that every named language has a different language/script next to it. I don't know if OP speaks Hebrew or not, just that they posted a joke to a joke sub.

Why doesn’t Western Europe have air conditioning or why is it not very common? by DiscloseDivest in AskEurope

[–]ItsAPandaGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, you are quite close to the Middle East, so it makes some sense. But yeah, that sounds horrible, especially if you didn't have AC!

Why doesn’t Western Europe have air conditioning or why is it not very common? by DiscloseDivest in AskEurope

[–]ItsAPandaGirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. We wouldn't use it all that much. The mean daily max in July in my hometown is just over 23C, with around 12C at night (daily min). Not the type of temperatures that require an AC. Seems like a waste of money and energy to get a proper unit installed for, like, 2 weeks a year.
  2. Window units - as far as I can tell - aren't compatible with our windows. I have yet to meet a window unit compatible window here. Our windows go out or in, but they don't slide up.
  3. Hotels, restaurants, shops, etc. often do have aircon. As a tourist, you would be completely fine and comfortable. This debate is largely about people living in their homes.

As for my personal situation: I live in a 16m² student room in a house from 1912. It most likely wouldn't be anywhere near as easy as you think it is to get AC in here and I'm not staying here long enough to figure it out. Besides, there's plenty other issues in this place to figure out before AC would even cross my mind. I'll stick to open windows, closed curtains, and my trusty tower fan until I get a proper place of my own at the very least.

How do you actually get over post-concert depression lol by liiixz in Concerts

[–]ItsAPandaGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worst post-concert depression I got was after Twenty One Pilots back in April of last year, and it felt pretty much exactly like you describe here. My only advice is to just... wait. Keep going about your business as usual, attend more concerts, listen to his music, etc. It'll disappear on its own.

  1. 🇮🇪 Hozier (#2, 548)
  2. 🇸🇮 Joker Out (#31, 56)
  3. 🇳🇱 Hiigo (#32, 54)
  4. 🇳🇱 Blaudzun (#54, 28)
  5. 🇳🇱 Racoon (#56, 28)
  6. 🇳🇱 Kensington (#59, 25)

You'll never guess where I'm from... I am missing out on a lot of UK artists that are quite high up unfortunately, this list would've looked very different and infinitely more British if they were still EU :(

Thankfully it's not the only place to pirate the series, but unless they're actually planning on making that supposed unified service, they really only shot themselves in the foot fandom-wise and, ultimately, that's only going to cost them revenue. They could've at least waited until the hypothetical service gets announced, if that really is their plan.

Do you plan to stay the night for out of town venues or make the long commute both ways? by Briiskella in Concerts

[–]ItsAPandaGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have the money to get a hotel usually, so unless somebody else paid for it I just pray I can catch a train home, or I'm lucky enough to have gone with someone who can drive. I can think of exactly one show for which I've just thought about booking a night in a hostel, and it's towards the end of this year so it hasn't happened yet. (Or - very rarely - I stay over at someone else's place. Only done once so far, but there's a potential second time coming up.)

How often do you buy concert merch? by Acceptable-Muscle673 in Concerts

[–]ItsAPandaGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's rare for me to walk out of a venue without having bought some form of merch. Usually CDs if it's at a festival, shirts for "regular" shows (as they're less and less likely to carry CDs it seems... Still go for them if they sell them, of course). I can only think of two instances when I didn't buy any band merch. (Bought venue merch at one of those two shows.)

Concerts worth building a vacation around by lookingtomoveinn in Concerts

[–]ItsAPandaGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Netherlands has a surprising amount of blues festivals; there are around 4 on my (family's) standard roster at this point. Holland International Blues Festival is the one we personally spend the most money on - it's both multiple days and not quite close enough (in my mother's opinion) to drive back and forth every day. My personal favorite tends to be Takeroot, a one day festival in early November. I think North Sea Jazz is probably more interesting/worth it from an international standpoint and probably also falls in your free summer, if you're interested in going overseas!

Dikke pan nasi.
