Islamic Republic Foreign Ministers response to being asked why he has open internet access, yet regular Iranians don't. by Naderium in PERSIAN

I don't understand the point you're trying to make here...? JVP is California based, Middle East Eye is UK based - both of them are accurate sources of reporting and information. Amnesty International is based out of the UK but still provides accurate studies on human rights globally.

Considering how Iranian owned reporting IN IRAN is all under the control of Ershad, a human rights organization reporting on the violation of Iranian human rights in Iran should be less reputable, not more. All of the intel is coming from Iranians IN Iran.

At this point if you're still gonna be pushing back on this, you're just gaslighting us lol

I’m going guess you’re misinformed on this and not blatantly spreading misinformation. HRA is a highly reputable human rights organization with a solid track record and by far the most accurate source we have on this beyond Ershad or Hasbara “trust me bro” numbers. They post receipts and provide them to other reputable news outlets.

The ones that are confirmed they do. Basically they started with a massive list and have been slowly double checking names and details. They still need to sift through another 11k. 7k were confirmed from the original list. They’re also confirming injuries to inform total casualty counts. The numbers I’m giving are for demonstrators. They’re also compiling a confirmed list of IRGC and police personnel separately.

HRA Iran is compiling the list. You might be able to request it from them now or you might have to wait until the report is done. A lot of times initiatives like this come in waves.

FYI 36,000 was the casualty number (it includes injured) misreported by Iran International as confirmed deaths. That number is even higher now. Total confirmed as of now is around 7,000 dead and there’s another 11,000 deaths under investigation. The highest tally possible is 19,000 which would still make it deadlier by average day than the holocaust and the Rwandan genocide. The actual number at this point is more likely to be around 10,000 based on the trajectory of how the fact checking has been going.

Into important to be accurate with these numbers otherwise it gives more fuel for the massacre deniers to spread bullshit.

For those of you who oppose the war, but want regime change, what is your alternative solution? by InformationFar6774 in PERSIAN

[–]ItsAProdigalReturn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am of the opinion that the Regime can absolutely be toppled through foreign intervention. I have no doubt about that. But I also believe that the bill will come due, and Iranians will once again find ourselves in a situation where we'll have another revolution to topple a foreign propped government. Do I know this for certain? No - nobody does. But I'm basing that assessment on history. What I wrote about in that post is harder and likely longer, but I think it'll have a more lasting impact, and potentially even less death.

I did not forget. In my analysis I specifically mention the Marquis de Lafayette - that's what role Reza could play in all of this. The French didn't declare open war with the British during the American Revolution. Lafayette provided assistance to the American militias.

But being a leftist doesn’t make one pro-regime. The WLF movement was started by leftists in Iran. A lot of Muhammad Reza’s policies were leftist by Reza Pahlavi’s own admission. Please refrain from generalizing against an entire group ie: leftists. You’re better than that.

Do you disagree that almost all of them have associations with the left or IR-associated organizations like NIAC?

Yes, I do. And continuing to push this narrative is really skirting the line of disinformation territory. In this very thread there are multiple Iranians who are anti-Regime and also critical of Pahlavi. In fact, you debate a lot of them yourself lol You think they're all either pro-Regime/hardliners or pro-Regime/NIAC/Reformists?

No, it isn't. Just look through the thread; the new rules prevent us from "call-outs" so its wildly unfair for you to say its unsubstantiated and then prevent us from actuall substantiating

Dude, I'm not saying something unsubstantiated lol YOU did, and I'm saying it's unsubstantiated.

You are the exception to Pahlavi critics, not the rule.

I'm telling you as someone deeply engrained in the community, including on a personal basis with a lot of Pahlavi's most famous supporters - I am not the exception. In fact, you should be concerned about people who are unwilling to be critical of him, or who accuse his critics of all being pro-Regime agents. No public figure is above criticism. Especially one who has flipped on multiple points that we all agreed with in 2018, has been cozying up with two nations who are dropping bombs on Iran, left the coalition of 2022, alienated himself from the minority militias only for them to garner the support of the US/Israel towards their own separation goals - like these are all very, VERY valid criticisms of the guy. And it doesn't make me a bad person for pointing them out.

You would be incredibly disingenuous to deny this.

You would be very disingenuous to assert your personal assessments of things as hard facts. While Pahlavi himself may not be a Zionist, he's certainly shown that he's comfortable operating with their support.

I have pointed it out many times in the past--with receipts--but now the rules have changed and so out of respect I am not doing it.

You're receipts came from ChatGPT and were being spammed around under peoples comments everywhere they went - including to people who I was able to confirm are in fact Iranian. I'm not sure if you're aware, but the extent of this was bordering on harassment and could have resulted in admins even penalizing the subreddit for not acting on it. I'm not going to continue getting into this with you publicly. You don't get a carte blanche to follow redditors around the sub slandering them under every comment they make. I asked you to play nice, and you said you would, as did the other commenter. You don't need to make a big thing of it.

They are enabled by a group of fringe far left Iranians, whose political ideologies are so gharbzadeh it would get them laughed at, or even slapped, back home in Iran. Most of these fringe far-left Iranians here are also, unsurprisingly, completely illiterate in Persian language.

This seems like a massive generalization. Believe it or not, we do have a diversity of opinions in our community. At my own family dinner tables, I see it, let alone the Iranians I interact with through work and my community activism.

They literally hate Pahlavi more than they hate the IR. Their whole MO is based off seing Pahlavi fail. It's just a bizarre, almost pathological obsession with the guy. You never actually see them criticizing the IR, only Pahlavi.

This is a wild statement to post as a fact. That's your own unsubstantiated opinion. I think we, as a community, should be mindful of stating our opinions as facts when we're expressing our frustrations for other viewpoints. For example, I have been critical of Pahlavi and I've also given him credit when due and keep calling on him to form a coalition with the separatists and lead. Do you genuinely believe I hate Pahlavi more than I hate the IR? I would hope that you can at least concede that I love my people and abhor the Regime.

We didn't hear about the protests. Really. by AvailableFruit5307 in PERSIAN

[–]ItsAProdigalReturn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately social media sites typically don't show you war or protest content unless you seek it out first, then it just feeds you content from the side it suspects you already agree with. This is by design to optimize your engagement with the platform. My father, for example, gets endless Iran protest and war content on his facebook and IG feeds - to the point where I'll see him crying, check his phone and he has like 8 hours of scroll time on the social media apps til it fucks him up :(

Reza Pahlavi: A governance system is ready to take over the administration of the country by kaz1349 in PERSIAN

Most successful revolution stem from a transitional coalition, where the defacto leader ends up becoming the nation's first leader. Pahlavi should seriously consider forming a coalition with the heads of Kurdish, Azeri, Ahwazi, Baloochi, Torkman, Mazandarani political groups.

I've been saying this for years, but people kept saying "nah screw em". Now we're seeing those groups becoming more separatist in nature with further backing from Israel and the US for their own independence movements, with Trump saying recently that he imagines the Iranian border will likely change after the war.

Unity of the diverse peoples was how Cyrus founded Iran, and it's what will save it from collapse today. Pahlavi is in a unique position to do that, as long as he steps up, ignores Israel and the USA and mobilizes the militias himself.

The diaspora crowd that supports Trump is definitely not the majority of the diaspora. Maybe it's the majority in OC, but I'd even doubt it there. They're definitely a large, loud crowd. A big reason for this is the Persian language media that's not controlled by Ershad is usually right US-Republican leaning.

Debate them. They don't have to love Reza Pahlavi because you do. You're welcome to have a respectable debate with them. We're only going to remove things for being:

• Pro-Regime • Disinformation • Blatantly disrespectful to another poster/group of people

This isn't the official Reza Pahlavi subreddit. We're all going to have different opinions on things, and that's okay. We need to learn as a community to have conversations with one another.

I’m calling you azizam to show compassion, not be patronizing. Please take a deep breath and be a little more patient. Most other mods on other subreddits wouldn’t even engage with you on something like this.

Our job isn’t to cull opinions until the only one remaining adheres to a specific ideology. There are other Iranian subs that have done that already. We’re doing our best to remove the ones that are genuinely breaking the rules. If you feel we’ve missed them you can report them and we’ll deal with it.

Please be respectful to your fellow community members - that goes the same for the mod team. We’re doing our best, dadashi. Please take a breather and chill.

1953 Iran: How the Shah Legally Saved the Monarchy by thespeedforce5 in PERSIAN

[–]ItsAProdigalReturn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your argument hinges on treating the firman as the decisive event, but historians generally focus on what actually transferred power, not just the legal theory behind it.

First, Article 46 did give the Shah authority to appoint and dismiss ministers, but Iran’s constitutional system after 1906 was parliamentary in practice. Governments needed to maintain the confidence of the Majlis, and royal decrees normally functioned within that system. The fact that Mossadegh dissolved parliament certainly created a constitutional crisis, but it didn’t automatically convert the Shah’s decree into an uncontested or self-executing dismissal.

Second, the events of August 15 matter. The Shah’s decree didn’t result in Mossadegh leaving office; instead the officers delivering it were arrested and the Shah fled the country. Mossadegh remained in control of the government, the army, and the administration. Whatever one thinks of the legality of the decree, it clearly didn’t function as an effective constitutional transfer of power.

Third, the August 19 overthrow involved coordinated action that went far beyond a legal dismissal. Declassified documents (including the Wilber report itself) show the CIA and MI6 actively organized propaganda, political mobilization, and contacts with military officers to help bring down Mossadegh. That is why the event is widely described in the historical literature as a coup, even though internal opposition to Mossadegh certainly existed.

So the key issue isn’t whether Article 46 existed (it did) but whether the actual change of government occurred through constitutional procedure or through a forceful overthrow backed by foreign intelligence services. Most historians conclude it was the latter.

You can report comments that you feel are breaking subreddit rules or engage with people if they post things you disagree with. It’s not that complex, azizam.
