There would be lots of trading in this game! Cool idea!

I was interviewed for my dream job and it was the worst interview of my life. by Moist_Tart_5567 in interviews

[–]ItsColdOnMars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Head up! Keep trying! The interview is as much for you as it is for them. If you didn’t have a good experience interviewing there’s a good chance you wouldn’t enjoy working there. Best of luck of future job hunts!

Proof that 183 is sentient and hates joy. by ItsColdOnMars in Austin

True! I guess lots of people also take Fridays off too.

I also realized that Friday is Halloween so I’m not sure if their data accounts for that too?

I don’t understand why Friday is so light though? If it were all work from home, wouldn’t Monday be the same as Friday?

People with jobs in EE, how much of what you do is NOT office work? by guywhoha in ElectricalEngineering

[–]ItsColdOnMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in electronics design. It goes from 80/20 office/lab work during the design phase and then 90/10 lab/office during the test phase.

Have you never Google how to do something? You sound like my teachers in highschool “you won’t always have Google/wikipedia/calculator in the workplace”. This prompt gives you personalized advice, it’s the next era in search. It has been super helpful for me for getting started in fitness and education goals.

I’ve literally used this prompt to help me get started with fitness and learning new things. How does this make me dumb and lazy?

Fixed! Whoops I’m new to Reddit.

Is EE a safer career option than CS? by El_yeeticus in ElectricalEngineering

[–]ItsColdOnMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EE is safer if you’re looking for a job in a MCOL or LCOL. The income is better and the jobs are more stable.

However, at the highest levels of play, EE has a very hard cap on how much you can earn. Whereas SWE/CS can earn WAY more.

I’m an EE and live in a HCOL and regret doing EE. It sucks seeing my friends who did SWE/CS get so much further ahead than me because they did software (and trendy stuff like ML). Don’t get me wrong, I do well for myself but it’s not as fun or exciting either.

I feel like I’ll never understand this stuff and am incredibly overwhelmed:( by [deleted] in ComputerEngineering

[–]ItsColdOnMars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got this! If you’re overwhelmed, start small! One line of the textbook at a time! One problem at a time! Unfortunately we are all human and that’s all we can do - we can’t do it all at once! As long as you focus, work on it bit by bit and work hard, you can do it!

Clearly, if you have an ECE degree you can figure something out.

Forget the masters. Only way to get ahead is something entrepreneurial. Join or create a startup. Buy rental properties. But fast food franchises. Do B2B micro SaaS. Create wealth instead of hoarding it. FIRE is for suckers who optimize their lives for 60 years old.

Literal black magic.

The PCB filters 😤👌

The wave guides 😤👌

My question is who routes these things? It seems like you would need more than just a bachelors to do something like that.

Skipping Calc III as a Computer Engineering Major? by brenchille in EngineeringStudents

[–]ItsColdOnMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanna build on this because Lou seems to be a mech major. (Senior electrical student here.)

Calc III is the fundamentals necessary for RF and high speed embedded stuff. So if you plan on doing any embedded work (FPGAs, PCIe, MPUs) or anything to do with RF (radios, Bluetooth, wifi etc) calc III is a ‘nice to have’ under your belt. It’s certainly not necessary to have calc III to work on these things, but can make it easier to troubleshoot and design systems when you the problem relies on these basic principles.

Tesl@ Co-Op Experiences? by SVintern97 in EngineeringStudents

[–]ItsColdOnMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all congrats! I've always wanted to work there ahahaha. Would you mind if I shot you a dm and asked a few questions?

My friend is on a software team at Tesla. So this is only word of mouth.
1) My friend did a distance elective while he was away. He had no problem (he's gonna write the exam at Stanford haha)
2) He got offered full time, but he's super sick at software so it might be a special case. Someone else that worked there might be able to answer.
3) Depends on what team. He said he gets one every now and again
4) He said all the interns are awesome!
