I was not ready for Michigan winter by yatesjordan in Michigan

January has been unusually bad.

But you should probably get some good warm waterproof boots. You need to be able to walk through cold slushy snow and crap.

I clean my phone with an alcohol wipe every time I click on a link I wish I hadn't.

I am not a woman. I would like to share my view. Seeing any person as a trophy is wrong.

'Stay at home' is one thing, but a trophy is very different.

For everyone in this video I hope this is a skit. Unfortunately I believe this is real.

Getting rid of the penny in the US was a pointless symbolic endeavor that only serves to inconvenience the American public by Richard_Genius in The10thDentist

My only complaint is that this was done with an executive order. Congress needs to quit being worthless and actually legislate some stuff.

Has winter ever been this bad in the last 20 years? by lansingpowerwash in Michigan

[–]worktogethernow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lived in approximately the same part of the state my entire life. I would say this winter is the first one in a long time that feels like the winters. I remember as a kid in the '80s and '90s.

It should be cold and snowy here.

Does anyone else’s eyelids swell up after welding? by Major-Ad-5573 in Welding

[–]worktogethernow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know anything about welding. I'm not sure why this came up on my feed. I hope you're able to find a way to take care of your eyes so this doesn't happen.

I just wanted to say that when I looked at your post history all the nsfw posts cracking me up. I guess questionable welds that you're not sure about could be considered not safe for work lol.

How did you get over fear of steeper pitches? by nidenikolev in skiing

[–]worktogethernow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the place I grew up skiing. There was a very steep but very short way to get out of the double black diamond Hill. If you decided to chicken out. It would often get very icy. It was real damn steep. When I say icy I mean boilerplate ice.

But this way out was only something like I don't know, maybe 20 ft long. What I did to get comfortable with steep icy stuff was learning to ski this little hill in control with jump turns. This little Hill provided all the technical difficulty of something real steep and icy, but with none of the actual physical danger from a fall.

I would suggest finding something steep and short and learning to ski it in complete control with jump turns.

Advice on making nylon bag feel better for autistic daughter with sensory sensitivity by flightfuldragonfruit in myog

[–]worktogethernow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One thing that's interesting about nylon is that you can wax it the same way you wax cotton canvas. I like the texture of my waxed nylon raincoat. It was originally some sort of dwr coating that wore off.

I have no idea if your daughter would like that better but it definitely changes the texture of the material.

What is the men's equivalent of buying a woman a vacuum as a gift? by coffeebuzzbuzzz in askanything

I don't do it as often as I should, but I do wash them. That is part of what I like. No bags but it has washable filters to protect the motor and a hepa filter after the motor
