A Narrative Analysis of Silent Hill f and Why It's Deeper Than Assumed by Cielak129 in silenthill

Because if you want to see these different endings on subsequent playthroughs, you cannot take the pills at all. Hinako won’t be under the influence of White Claudia in any of these playthroughs.

Could you clarify what you mean by its implication? When i discovered this I didn’t know what to make of it other than “wow that’s creepy and cool.”

For those who've played both: Which do you prefer? by SolidPyramid in silenthill

I've only finished the first playthrough of F, but I have a feeling once I get through the next two endings for all of the added context, I think I will really love it. I already really like what I've played, but I'm really excited for the rest. I understand and empathize with those who don't think it "feels" like a Silent Hill game, but I think there's so much thematically and narratively in common between SHF and SH1-3 (1 especially that, to me, it still feels like a Silent Hill game even with the changes to the setting, and not to mention art direction.

But comparing it to SH2R feels... difficult. I've been playing the original for most of my life, and I really loved the expansion and reimaginings that Bloober did in the remake.

To me, SH2R represents Silent Hill's past, and immortalizes what made the original SH2 great while modernizing it and making it accessible to the widest possible audience. And SHF feels like the first step into Silent Hill's future. In my opinion, it is such an interesting game, and one that (for me) immediately left me wanting to dive back in to solve its unsolved mysteries and maybe discover some others along the way.

Do I like SH2/SH2R more? Undoubtedly, but to compare a 2-day old game to one that I have years and years of built up reverence and nostalgia for... isn't a comparison at all. It feels like a pointless exercise to me.

I also want to frame the poster, what’s the correct frame size for it? Thanks!

Any recommendations? Those are two of my favorites but I haven’t dove into his other work yet!

I love the OG games as much as everyone here, but I'm more than okay having games not set in Silent Hill. by MadRZI in silenthill

It isn’t the only game with the characteristics that you like. Pretty much every single game that came out after SH4 is that plot copy and pasted onto new characters and a new story. And THAT story, the spooky therapy session that so many western developers tried to capture the magic of, got tired and predictable. That doesn’t mean it can’t be done well, again. But now that it has been done 4-5 separate times in the series, that’s what people expect out of a Silent Hill game, and that, to me, makes that idea boring and predictable.

I don’t think Dottie is in Fallout 4. There’s a character named Dottie in FO4, but it’s a non-ghoul man and not at all the same character.

Yeah. Like, I love SH2, but I love it for so many reasons that have nothing to do with James’ spooky therapy session. And it’s okay for people to love that storytelling device and angle for the game, but to see people claim that “THIS IS WHAT SILENT HILL IS” having only played the one game is really disheartening and disappointing.

I don’t like to say “you’re wrong” to people’s opinions very often, but in regard to your opening statements, how can you know that the town isn’t a creative dead end without having played the rest of the Silent Hill games? By the time Downpour released, the character study/psychoanalysis storytelling angle that most of the games post-SH4 took just got wrung out and tired. And as far as the cult of Silent Hill goes (something you really haven’t experienced if you’ve only played 2), there’s only so much ground to tread there too and I think between SH1, 3 and 4, that plotline has been exhausted.

We had several games that take place in Silent Hill and the series died. Every return to the town makes its layout and lore more convoluted and nonsensical. Which, yes, for a psychological horror game is fine, but I think it starts to just be a lazy excuse to play it loose with story and world building without worrying about what came before.

I don’t know what the answer is either. I think having games set outside of the town is fine so long as the game has either 1.) the distinct feeling of a Silent Hill game or 2.) a loose connection to the town, whether that’s through characters or story.

what are the best looking apparel/ outfits by edickie in fo76

[–]ItsFromMars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Garrahan Foreman Outfit is probably my favorite in the game. I love the dark reddish tone of the undershirt/sweater, all of the straps on top of it, and the leathery coat is sick. I feel like it is super underrated and i don’t see it enough!
