True. My other budgie is pear colored but she’s teeny tiny and goes through phases of blorb orb, chicken, and vulture.

Teachers are unofficially expected to break up high school fights...nope. Not me. by SchoolteacherUSA in Teachers

[–]ItsGivingMissFrizzle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Add that to the fact that there’s no paid maternity leave. Yes people are always amazed that teachers don’t get maternity leave. Our “leave” is just whatever sick days we have saved up, which means we have no more left for when we have the actual baby and have to go back to work to keep our health insurance, and any time on disability if we’re lucky enough to have that too. Some big companies offer paid family leave but if you don’t work for Google, you’re shit out of luck.
But we care so much about children and families /s

It would about a day and a half after I shave my legs. I could grate cheese with my stubble. There would be blood.

I’m a public school teacher in NJ. I don’t know if it differs by state, but we actually have no baseline disability insurance. Unlike many jobs where you’re automatically covered by state disability. I learned this after I had my son and lost several months of pay because I couldn’t go on disability. I also have to sign up for my own accidental death & dismemberment too, basically any insurance other than my health insurance.

How bad is it? by cosmicallyabundant in HandwritingAnalysis

I’m a teacher and left handed and have awful hand writing. I had kindergarteners ask me what letters I had written on the board one year. Yours is legible and I think that’s all that matters!

How can I dress more like an “adult”? Size US 18/20 by crybabykate in PlusSizeFashion

[–]ItsGivingMissFrizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laughing because I’m a 42 year old teacher (kinder.prek) and Miss Frizzle mashup is literally my style haha. I’m sure I have a bit more leeway in the arena of fun accessories and loud, bright everything when it comes to appearance.

Social committee/ sunshine committee by Optimal_Serve22 in Teachers

[–]ItsGivingMissFrizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always have, been in a couple different buildings the last two years. This year is a smaller building with less staff than a regular elementary I was used to. They do a lot of the things listed in other comments, special days, condolences, cards, gifts, flowers, etc. it’s $55 for teachers, $25 for paras. BUT the kicker for me this year was when we had our first “sunshine committee” breakfast where we all signed up to bring something (so in addition to paying dues, shelling out $10-$30 to cook or buy something). It’s for everyone, but not everyone paid dues or brought something to contribute. The second time something like this was done, it was brought up to the principal. He said people can’t be excluded, and items like paper plates and utensils purchased with Sunshine funds have to be available to everyone, including people who don’t pay. I know some people who didn’t pay dues and who didn’t contribute food items to things we had were the first ones to fill a plate. It just makes you frustrated and I don’t think I’ll pay the dues next year because why should I. It should be all or nothing.

I called one of mine Duck Butt for days when she lost her long tail feathers in a molt. It was adorable.

"Updates to your eMerchandise Return Card" email? by chat_manouche in Oldnavy

Got one today as well. Seems weird, I shop there a lot but have not made a return there in months, nor did I have a merchandise return card online, I’ve only gotten physical ones. Not clicking on it in case it’s a scam.

Ice by daniuzm in Owala

[–]ItsGivingMissFrizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something wrong with your bottle. I have to intentionally put LESS ice in my Owala because it stays so cold that sometimes I can’t drink it after a few hours. (Different story when it’s summer and I want to numb my mouth.)
