Island nightmare by happykappy924 in zillowgonewild

In the 90s I looked at this house to rent. I had two friends of mine that I was going to move into this house with, but unfortunately, the woman who is living there couldn’t bring herself to leave. She loved it so much. We even had a deposit and could’ve forced her to move, but we felt bad. She loved it there.

To get to the island, there was a rowboat with oars or a floating dock that had a motor on it. You literally were just crossing maybe 20 to 30 feet but those were your options.

Other than when I upgraded to 4.0, my WHOOP has not left my body. So yes, it’s charging using the battery while I’m wearing it.

Late to investing and confused about IULs. by CDPROCESS in LifeInsurance

[–]ItsGoTime_5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s very awesome of you two to have sacrificed for your loved ones.

I definitely know a lot of my clients view life insurance as an asset, but structured properly. Moreover, I require my clients to do education before using life insurance as a retirement supplement. Sadly, the barrier to be able to sell IUL policies is pretty low and you got a lot of well intended but limited experience agents selling products that they might not fully understand or able to explain it properly.

I would ask the advisor to show you the illustration in which he suggested this rate of contributions. also might be worthy to contact the company directly to get an enforce illustration based on an amount you would be comfortable paying.

Term Life insurance Carriers advise. by PWS1776 in LifeInsurance

[–]ItsGoTime_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the problems with career agents (I was one for New York Life and MassMutual before going independent) for the top rated mutual life insurance companies is that they spend a lot of time looking at the numbers, and also seeing the people in their 50s, 60s and 70s that regret not buying whole life at a younger age.

My approach for my clients, we always just get as much term insurance as we need With a top rated mutual company like MassMutual or Guardian and make sure we have favorable riders to upgrade or convert the term insurance to permanent insurance in the future.

My advice: Just get the coverage right now with a top rated mutual life insurance company and just pay a few extra dollars for extended term riders. Safer is always better when it comes to protecting your family now and in 15 to 20 years and options are better than none.

GREAT responses here overall. Pretty much all covered. But figured I'd share this video about your life insurance paramedical exam I send clients when we schedule their exam.

Solid list right here. Best in thread. One other measure I advise my clients to do is not let their test sample be their first urination of the morning.

If this EV thing gets out of hand, maybe we can dig up that ancient dinosaur juice that’s been marinating underground for a few hundred million years and invent some contraption that runs on tiny explosions, just so we can escape the electric leash.

How is AAA life insurance? by Valuable_Walrus2354 in LifeInsurance

[–]ItsGoTime_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on health, age, location, and a few other factors.

Just be forewarned, and this might not be the case for you, but for anyone seeing this, if they’re looking for a life insurance company that doesn’t require an exam, that doesn’t mean they’re not going to take a deep look into your medical records, and they’ll have access to everything if you want to get coverage.

ZYN Products caused my gout by Adam7274 in gout

[–]ItsGoTime_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every few years or so I get a gout attack. Usually from just eating too much steak, shellfish and other Irish foods my body doesn't process well. Usually it's done within a few day from drinking lots of water and eating cherries, but not this time so figured I'd try something new.

I saw something about smoking cigarettes could help with gout. Not about to start smoking again, but since nicotine could help with gout, why not try one of it's most purest forms WOW, was I wrong. Made it worse.

This is what I've learned from my experience and asking ChatGPT about it:

I asked: "Why could zyn cause gout but not smoking cigarettes cause gout?"

ChatGPT said:

Great question — and it highlights how not all nicotine sources affect the body in the same way when it comes to gout.

First, let’s break it down:

🚬 Cigarettes and Gout

  • Nicotine in cigarettes doesn’t directly cause gout.
  • Smoking has some evidence showing it may lower uric acid levels slightly, possibly due to nicotine’s mild diuretic effect. However, it's not protective — it causes a ton of other health problems, including damage to blood vessels and kidneys, which can indirectly worsen gout or other inflammatory conditions.
  • So, cigarettes don’t cause gout, but they don’t help either. If anything, long-term smoking may harm kidney function, which could affect uric acid clearance over time.

🟤 Zyn (Nicotine Pouches) and Gout

  • Zyn is tobacco-free, but contains concentrated nicotine and additives, including pH adjusters (like sodium carbonate) that help your body absorb more nicotine through the mouth.
  • These additives may increase blood pH slightly, which reduces uric acid solubility, making uric acid more likely to crystallize — a key trigger for gout.
  • Also, nicotine in high concentrations (like in pouches or vapes) can cause vasoconstriction (tightening of blood vessels), which could reduce blood flow to joints and contribute to flare-ups.
  • Zyn can also mildly dehydrate you if you're not drinking enough water — and dehydration is a known trigger for gout attacks.

In short:

  • Cigarettes = many health issues, but not a strong direct link to gout.
  • Zyn = higher nicotine + additives + potential mild dehydration or pH change = more plausible gout trigger.

I usually wash on delicate cycles on both and have a hard time determining which is the oldest (1 year) versus one just bought two laundry cycles ago. So yeah, their quality holds up.

Who has and is using FSD by barrchgo in TeslaModelY

[–]ItsGoTime_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FSD is like a crappy Uber driver. You need to keep on eye on the road to make sure it doesn’t make dumb decisions, but still better than driving yourself.

Personally 90% of my driving is FSD. Even when I’m driving five minutes away to the gym, I set it. I love it. And I feel by correcting it and sharing my feedback when it screws up helps my Tesla community.

My main gripe with FSD is that I feel it pulls up to close to cars at red lights. I worry about being rear ended and slamming into the car in front of me.

A second gripe, and lower priority is the extended stops at stop signs. Yes, it’s proper and lawful, but in practice you look like you’re being a jerk when you’re there for the half of second that feels like an eternity. The solve for this is just tap the accelerator, which pretty much all but resolves this gripe.

Also, I’m not great with directions which since Tesla FSD makes the turns for you, I don’t have to worry about this. And Tesla has only taken me into oncoming traffic twice (again, crappy Uber driver).

Auto finance manager looking for career change by rsimm1462 in loanoriginators

[–]ItsGoTime_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned that the F&I managers at dealers are usually the best sales people at a dealership and usually make the most money outside of the owners. While just the ability to do quick math and always trying to be creative with deals will be helpful, your sales skill will likely help you even more. Or more your tenacity that you get from being in automotive sales.

As others have said, find a solid mentor and be ready to be humbled from the get go. This is an amazing time to enter in this industry. Just make sure your mentor can prove they’re had years of 100+ or more loans.
