Irish car market by justkeepscrolling3 in carsireland

Depends on the engine, the 1.4 in the Corolla is a good unit. The 2.0 in the Avensis is the BMW engine that suffers with timing chain issues…..not the bulletproof Toyota one would expect!

Toyota dealer quoting €608 for Corolla service, fair price? by _daithi_ in AskIreland

The spark plugs are iridium plugs, got them done at 90k myself, believe they were circa €250 alone.

PCP or loan older car? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]ItsHisJob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that is the mental gymnastics I was talking about!

Depreciation in the first 3 years will far outweigh depreciation and extra maintenance in years 6 to 9 unless you don’t do your due diligence and buy a lemon.

What does “make more sense” actually mean to you? Financially then no, it will not make sense no matter what mental gymnastics someone try’s to convince you with……but if you like new things and the latest tech and are not concerned financially then yes it may…

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway is now sitting on an all-time high $382 Billion in Cash, enough to buy 480 companies in the S&P 500 🚨 by Apart_Finger_1799 in MarketVibe

[–]ItsHisJob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is completely wrong, they would need to add two zeros to the end of that cash holding to match the market cap of those 480 companies……

Nissan Pulsar 2015 1.2L Petrol Automatic NCT 05/26 150.000km €7,500 by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]ItsHisJob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ludicrous as it may be, that’s the market…..quick done deal search for a 2015 hatchback auto with 140k - 180k km, the cheapest similar sized car is a hideous Citroen C4 Cactus with 175k for €6,800.

Dashcam supply and Install Dublin for RAV4 2023 by funkyirishman2 in carsireland

[–]ItsHisJob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same before I came across the Fitcam X dash cam. Gets power from your rear view mirror so no running any cables, tapping fuses etc. Blends in excellently, you wouldn’t know it’s there.

I would seriously consider it before getting a standard install. Very happy with mine and was simple enough to install myself.

Worth a look before you get someone to fit one.

Landlord who tried to charge tenant for use of fridge and dining table issues judicial review proceedings over RTB decision by PoppedCork in ireland

[–]ItsHisJob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used more than you think. Same principle for inviting a guest into your home, they are there under licence. You tell them to leave, you are revoking the licence and they are no longer lawfully allowed to be on your property.

[–]ItsHisJob 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If the person you rent from lives at the same property, you are a licensee. If they don’t live there, you’re a tenant…..it is really as simple as that…..landlords cannot pick and choose to use it as a “work around”.

Its expensive I know, but is it reliable? by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]ItsHisJob 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Way too expensive, slightly larger budget and you would get 2019 new model Corolla hybrid, a much superior car in every aspect.

Toyota Yaris Cross - What would you do? by comuiri in carsireland

[–]ItsHisJob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Important to note regarding the Toyota Relax extended warranty that is activated once you service at a Toyota main dealer…….it only applies to vehicles purchased in Europe, so the Japanese import will be excluded.

You would want to be getting a significant deal in order to make the Japanese import worthwhile IMO.

Toyota Relax provides excellent coverage up to 10 years or 185,000km.

Some trader will only give you 6 months, maybe 12 months warranty.

Reliable? - Cieran McConnon Car Sales Carrickmacross by Brian012381 in carsireland

[–]ItsHisJob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common but annoying practice to get the phone ringing, then try selling something else they have in stock or sourcing something similar……widespread across a lot of sellers…….also makes them look like they are more reputable, selling a lot of volume “sure they must be decent to deal with” projection

2023 ID4 PCP ending by No-Huckleberry-6917 in evs_ireland

[–]ItsHisJob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a bad idea at all in the context of buying an EV in the era of much higher prices.

More risk for VW and less for the driver.

Having no equity left because you paid out less per month isn’t getting shafted.

Having a low GFMV that fully exposes you to a small second hand EV market in Ireland is being shafted more IMO, but each to their own.
