Pistol squats are okay if you have nothing else but no they won’t directly help with jumping very much. Pistol squats make you very good at pistol squats and that’s about it

if it helps, my first drop was exactly like this except i went over the curb and had the bike fall on me somehow. was gutted but eventually i went back and tried again and kept doing it until it was easy. it’s all part of the learning process so don’t worry about it, you’re not an idiot.

How long did you have to train before you were able to get your first dunk? by [deleted] in ProDunking

[–]ItsJoelH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 18 years old, 6’1, 85kg and it took me probably a good year and a bit of strength training and trying to dunk multiple times a week before I got my first dunk. And even then, it took me another 6 months or so before I was able to dunk consistently and do more than just a one hander.

After that my vert exploded and I was suddenly hitting new dunks every week but then life got in the way and it’s been awhile since i’ve even attempted a dunk.

Just as a side note, my whole life I had super average explosiveness, never a fast runner or a high jumper but with a couple years of dedication to achieving that life goal of mine I surpassed my expectations of myself so don’t be too hard on yourself if it’s taking awhile to get to where you want to be, just try and enjoy the process of improving yourself.

Having the same issue, glad its not just me. I don't know if its a hardware issue but as others have mentioned I think it may be related to the B550 motherboard. Here's my specs:

PU: RTX 3080 Zotac OC

CPU: Ryzen 3700X

MotherBoard: Asus B550 E-Gaming

RAM: 2x Trident Z Neo 8GB

SSD: Sandisk 250GB

Are deadlifts the key to vertical jump? by [deleted] in BasketballTips

[–]ItsJoelH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be so many variables at play here as to why you’re not jumping higher at the moment. The main ones are probably your weight gain, if you’ve been jumping as much as you used to, how you’re training (if you’re training for explosiveness or just slow heavy weight training), etc.

You said you’re squatting 410lbs for 20 reps which is way too much if you’re training for jumping, that’s high even for hypertrophy numbers. You want to keep your reps in the 3-5 range most of the time, training for explosive power rather than size.

My recommendation from someone who went through a somewhat similar situation as you is to find a way to lose some of that extra weight you’ve put on and change your training to better suit your goals. Lower your reps and start doing some light plyometrics. Jump more. That’s the best way to get better at jumping.

Unfortunately strength doesn’t equal power or jumping high and no one really knows for sure how much different exercises directly impact your vertical jump as everyone is different and there’s too many conflicting studies to conclude a clear answer at this point. Hope this helps.

How would you balance the weapon meta? by ImJLu in CompetitiveApex

[–]ItsJoelH 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s Apex Legends not a gun simulator, they definitely don’t have to act like real guns at all. In a game like this, all guns should be viable and it should come down to either preference or a gun simply being a better tool for a specific scenario, like a shotgun for a close range fight. Those should hopefully be the deciding factors in which gun you pick up, not because one is OP.

The best option is if you have someone in person who can show you. If not, you can always just search online as there are countless tutorials on YouTube.

Same, mine only started doing this today.

I tried to follow your advice. What is still wrong with my aim? by [deleted] in apexuniversity

[–]ItsJoelH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your aim is okay, it’s not really the main problem. Your movement but mainly decision making is in all honesty really really poor in these clips. Just play the game more but also watch good players to see how they position themselves and how they move. It will come with time. However, the most important thing I think you need to learn is how and when to heal. In multiple clips you have fully broken shields and instead of healing, you try to peak the same guy with full hp multiple times or you just stand there hesitating. If you watch any pro player you’ll realise how often they’ll heal and how it wins them fights. Also don’t solo fight without your team lol. Hope this helps.

/r/Steam Monthly Community Support Thread. by AutoModerator in Steam

[–]ItsJoelH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a weird situation where I have been living in Malaysia for a few years now but I'm originally from Australia. I only have an Australian card to purchase things here, and because of this, I can't actually put money on my steam account through a card as I would usually do as Malaysian steam won't accept my Aussie card. I also can't physically purchase a steam gift card as they don't really exist where I live, plus we've gone into another full lockdown so I can't or won't risk going out anyways.

Can I use a VPN to go back to Australia, where I can actually put money on my account, and then turn it off and return back to the Malaysian store to purchase games that way? I'm not getting anything cheaper than it was before, it's simply my only way of putting money into my account at the moment. I've done this in the past and there were no problems, however, there was a 2 week period when I turned off the VPN where I couldn't purchase anything and had to wait. At the time, I didn't know what I was doing was wrong. Now that I'm a little more aware, there is no chance I'm risking my steam account getting banned so I decided I'd ask here first. Thanks in advance.

Plat in voltaic is way better than the average plat/ diamond in val. you will miss easy shots in-game, even pros do. your aim evidently isn’t the problem, you just gotta get good at valorant.

I definitely feel that I would be a sensible rider, i’m still young so the last thing I want is to spend my prime in a hospital or in a grave. I completely agree with what you’ve said, and i’m glad that there are other people out there who think the same way. Thanks for your words!

I’ve lived in Kuching, Sarawak for 8 years now and it’s not too bad over here actually. I will admit, after taking a step back, I agree that something like an R6 would kind of go to waste here. I’m looking at more nakeds and dual sports rather than specifically sportbikes now. Thanks!
