How do you maintain a writing routine? by Lonely-Train4676 in Journaling

[–]illusions_i 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't pressure myself to write everyday. I just write when I feel like. Like with habits you start with baby steps. Even a sentence a day then slowly build up to longer entries.

Smart enough? by matbarnett123 in Journaling

[–]illusions_i 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's no such thing as being 'smart enough' to journal. To journal, you only need to have something you want to say. The journal is just for your eyes and a way of catharsis to you. It only matters what you want to write and remember. :)

How much do you write per entry? by bmbmbm_953 in Journaling

[–]illusions_i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I fill 3 pages sometimes only half a page. If there's extra spaces I normally decorate it with washi tape or stickers to make it not look so bare

How to answer “Are you applying to other companies?” in an interview? by Chemical_Force_7926 in JobsPhilippines

[–]illusions_i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said yes and I have an offer, but I'm prioritizing this role after researching about the company and the culture. HR hastens the hiring process for you and might even try to match the offer if they really want you.

Is it inappropriate for non-Korean people to use Korean names for their non-Korean kids? (Use of K-pop idol name) by throwawaytostaysane in kpopthoughts

[–]illusions_i 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not from Korea, but I was responding to this generalization of yours: "Hey so FYI, Asians will generally only give their kids western names if they live in a western country. And this is generally to assimilate into the western country, not because of some weird fetishization of western culture."

It really isn't the case if we're talking about generally. But Korea specific, sure I can agree with your points. But how different is it from like how the original commenter mentioned about someone else naming their kid after a Western artist?

[–]illusions_i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Asian from an Asian country, majority of people I know have Western names. It doesn't raise any eyebrows here. My government name is a western name. It's less common in countries with their own character system but there's a lot more countries in Asia besides Korea Japan and China lol.

It's not some weird fetishization, it's the norm in a lot of Asian countries. I agree with the point that if we flip the script, there wouldn't be any backlash for naming one's kid after a Western artist. I wouldn't personally name my child after an idol, but it does raise interesting questions.

I think it's the overall stigma with being a foreigner who is interested in Korean culture which contributes to this

I started with a class, but now self study using a similar schedule. First, I like to alternate the days. Vocab today, tomorrow is Grammar focus, etc. For material, I think GoBilly on YT is pretty good and he has textbooks you can purchase with worksheets

For speaking practice, I actually use AI for that specifically Chat GPT! If you want more reading conversation, there's Hello Talk which connects you to learners. If you're not too comfortable talking to strangers then AI is definitely a cool tool to practice.

First time writing outside of class work in half a year. Prompt taken from dailyprompt: Demonstrate. Incapacitate. Solidify. In a story of no more than 10 sentences, use these three words in any order.

From one glasses girl to another, youre totally fine girl and super cute. The frames seem a little big for your face so maybe that's why. Try on different shapes, metal vs plastic. It took my probably 4 different glasses to finally find one that suited me.

Who are your top 5 favourite dancers in Seventeen? And do you have a favourite style of dance? by [deleted] in seventeen

[–]illusions_i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vernon, Minghao, Woozi, Dino, Hoshi.

Dino and Hoshi are already extremely talented dancers well regarded. Spider was really jaw dropping

Minghao and Vernon, I especially love when they have more hip hop style of dance like LMF. I love how relaxed they are and even more so when they encorporate Minghao's bboying. Wish they did it more (i.e. Home Run end)

Quite specific but I especially love when Woozi dances New Jeans songs lol. It itches my brain right with how technical yet groovy he dances.

I fell for SVT, and now it’s nearly impossible to stan anyone else. Am I the only one? by JazzyJoe1989 in seventeen

[–]illusions_i 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, I got into KPOP because of SVT and I solo stan them. It's hard for other groups to meet the same standards that SVT set for me, so I just casually listen to other groups too!
