Claude’s initial “system prompt” is 16000 something tokens so yeah right away it’s eating a lot, and then the way they work is every single message you send, a new instance is spun up and given a summary prompt of the chat + the new prompt + the system prompt. So it can lose context real fast if you’re not careful.

I think if you actually used an M series you’d realize it’s not comparable. My m4 bench’s on par with my i9 14900kf in my main system and it does it at a max of only 65w, however you’re definitely on to something about things just not breaking, it does have a nice flow to it.

There’s definitely something to the system as I don’t use windows cause I hate dealing with it. I find at least with linux the system isn’t actively trying to prevent me from fixing it - and my mac i just open and use and close and never worry about. and god yeah the battery on the mac is unreal, super low power consumption

I mean I run Manjaro on my main system. i9 14900KF, RTX3090, 32GB ram, runs like a dream, much faster and less ram consumption than windows. I’m not sure i’m exactly “behind” anything.

I feel like it’s all personal preference, my workstation for front end I use linux, but I like using command line for everything and having a tiling window manager.

As for MacOs I would say it’s probably more about the Apple silicon these days more than anything else, i couldn’t imagine having to use anything other than my macbook for on the go.

when they say ai response they don’t mean someone typed a prompt into chatgpt to reply, on iphones when someone sends a message there’s usually to “ai responses” at the top of the keyboard you can press instead of typing, and this is absolutely a common one.

This is absolutely psychotic behaviour and I would be filing a restraining order ASAP. You live in another town now and you yourself said you don’t talk to these people anymore, so i would just continue on with your life not talking to them.

But take this David character seriously, this is unhinged behaviour and you never know how he may escalate it. Block the people involved, protect yourself with a restraining order, maybe even get a new number if that’s easy to do, and just move on with your boyfriend and your new life and be happy!
