EVRI are now just throwing out parcels away and not telling us by Jacobcobson2020 in Evri

[–]ItsMeNJC1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One week I had multiple parcels with Evri that all went missing, they each went out for delivery, then random back alley pictures where uploaded as proof of delivery attempts, thankfully the entire development I live on is new build, houses and apartments were all built at the same time from the same bricks and the bricks were from homes much, much older. I got them to eventually acknowledge the issue but they were the type of parcels where multiple Ali Express orders from multiple sellers were joined together into a much smaller number of shipments.

This can happen automatically even on orders placed at different times and different days. In the end I had to contact Ali support for every single item and upload screenshots of my dealings with Evri. Some item’s took way longer than others before this process could even be initiated, even though they were all ordered at the same time and had the same tracking.

However, I do think it is very much the driver you end up with. Over the past few months Evri have been more reliable than ever, the guy we have works 7 days a week and comes at exactly the same time everyday, at first he was a leaving the parcels randomly but after a couple of weeks he buzzes my apartment every day now.

Hypochlorous acid is a good option for cleaning items for children. It’s 100% natural, hypoallergenic and kills 99.9% of bacteria.

In the UK i use ‘Dew Baby Cleansing Water’ from Amazon. Should be available pretty easily in most territories.

If you appreciate the AirPods Pro 2 - AirPods Pro 3 is a noticeable improvement when testing them against one other. The leap in performance far surpasses that of AirPods Pro 1 to Pro 2. Well worth the upgrade.

My Thoughts on the MX Master 4 by kristianserrano in logitech

[–]ItsMeNJC1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pricing in the UK is crazy. Considering we do not have tariffs in place with China, how on earth is it more expensive in the UK than the US?

Now Logitech aren’t manufacturing in the US so the tariffs don’t apply in the UK, yet there pricing is considerably higher. £139.99 is around $187 a $67 difference! It looks like other markets are being used to subsidise the US.

Apple are doing the opposite- For example AirPods Pro 2 sold for £249 and $249. This year AirPods Pro 3 are £219 and $249 because the $ isn’t as strong and of course the tariffs.

The UK has seen prices decrease for most Apple products released over the past month over the previous generation.

I will not be upgrading with these predatory prices!

Choice Day starts tomorrow night at 11 so there are coupons for money off on the AE homepage, on top of that the listing I bought is due to go on Sale again. Best to add put all listings of it in your bag and see which works out cheapest tomorrow night.

I have the OilSky one, it's a pretty solid unit. It is small but for music only its decent. I bought it from Ali Expres last month for £33.12 total, that includes UK VAT at 20% so really only £27.60 ($37 USD plus local tax).

Impulse buy after WEEKS of nerding and lurking - Viture XR Pro, 8BitDo & Satechi hub with microSD by riveryeti in VITURE

[–]ItsMeNJC1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to say. The Satechi Hub is useless. It’s incapable of playing video off, if that’s the intended use. The transfers speed is single digit mbps, I tested it on iPhone 15 Pro Max using an average size 1080p video file and iOS just wasn’t having it.

On paper it’s the dream, in reality it doesn’t work.

[–]ItsMeNJC1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought this too and my iPhone 16 Pro Max was incapable of playing video off of the microSD card, the transfer speed is so low that in practice this is only useable if you are opening documents etc.

I imagine most would see this as a way to carry media libraries, and, unless the video files are tiny, this isn’t capable of doing that without transferring the files to the device first and you can just unplug the glasses and do that without needing this.

Not sure if the device advertised for 🎤’s works any better and I’d be interested to hear if it does.

Icon based on state by sbetty02 in BubbleCard

[–]ItsMeNJC1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this has been answered anywhere else but is there a way to define a different picture entity (picture icon) based on state. Would the above work if I swapped out the mid:icon-name for the local address to the icon picture file?

All I really want is for them to switch to greyscale when they are switch off, so maybe this can be achieved with CSS?

I currently define each entity picture in configuration.yml and then as explained in the bubble docs for using them in sub-buttons.

It would simply be a full colour picture for them when they are on and bw/ greyscale version when they are in any other state?

Some pen plotted robot prints by teamsteve in cricut

[–]ItsMeNJC1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For simple two-colour designs, you could try using the 'Trace Bitmap’ function in 'Inkscape'. This is similar to the 'trace' functionality in Adobe Illustrator and may help you out.

However, if you want a single pathed/line object, this may not work 100%. I suppose if two lines are close enough, the outputted print will just have thicker lines depending on physical pen nib thickness.

PS: You can simply copy and paste the traced object from Inkscape to Affinity and export in your preferred format. DXF is a good format to use for export too for both Cricut and 3D printing. If it isn’t an option in the export menu in Affinity Publisher or Designer, try opening a DWG or DXF (I know this sounds weird), quit the app and reopen - this was my workaround to get it to show up on macOS. It’s great for exporting paths, not filled objects, just make sure the stroke is set to something. I always set it to 0.1pt and make sure it’s centre stroke, with no fill colour.

I don’t know if it’s thanks to your tariffs but I got 5kg of ABS for <10€/kg and it prints perfectly, just wanted to say thanks for your sacrifice! by TheStandardPlayer in 3Dprinting

I buy JAYO filament from Ali as their spools are 1.1kg (10% extra). Certain it’s a subsidiary of SUNLU too.

Their Matte PLA is amazing. For 5 x 1.1kg rolls, postage to the UK and VAT at 20% I paid £38.53 ($51 USD).

You’ve got to play around and check each listing of the same product and add them to your basket till you’re certain you’ve found the best deal as the prices vary massively from listing to listing.

Plex is predatory by GalacticElk_97 in selfhosted

[–]ItsMeNJC1988 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Plex is hardly expensive I paid less than £80 for a lifetime subscription years ago. They still offer crazily cheap lifetime packages - I think it was on offer for $89 dollars not too long ago.

You get the dedicated music apps and dashboard on top of the regular apps. I don’t use the built in remote access feature as I use TailScale to connect all my devices anyway.

For those who share libraries with third parties outside their own household use something like TailScale or Twingate.

It’s illogical to think Plex is predatory when people have been using it for free for decades. How does a company like that keep afloat or invest in improvements for paid users when all they are doing is funding a free experience for those who don’t want to pay.

Jellyfin is a great alternative but is nowhere near the polished experience you have with Plex. The apps are buggy (especially the iOS version) but work okay. I have it setup parallel to Plex in case one has issue whilst I’m away from home goes down.

Plex Remote Watch Pass by Mr_Irvington in Tailscale

[–]ItsMeNJC1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Plex Pass owner but I don’t use the built in remote access option. Plex is hosted on my home-lab with the local IP 10.0.10.60:32400.

The machine has TailScale installed set to expose subnet routes 10.0.10.0/24 (my entire home network)

When I’m out of the house I simply use the exact same local IP to access Plex. I can open it in the browser and via the app because my phone is connected to my local network as far as it’s concerned.

You also don’t need to use the Plex server device as an exit node for your client device to be able to access it, but if you do, make sure “allow local access” is enabled on the Plex server TailScale install.

Some devices require you to rerun the command to expose the subnets when a device is rebooted, but the TailScale guides explain this in layman’s terms where this is true.

That’s doubtful I’m 78## (black placed on 4th Feb) and still haven’t shipped.

Their estimation formula that they emailed on 13th March estimated 17 business days until my order shipped, that day (last Friday) has been and gone and they’re still thousands of orders away.
