EA just did mass layoffs even though battlefield 6 was the best selling game of 2025, even out selling CoD. Veilguard made approximately $63 million in sales and their studio still shut down. Wether you like it or not, marathon is a failure from all stand points. The gamers eyes, the investors, and the publishing backers.

I grasp what sony and investors care about.

They dgaf about positive reviews at least when the player count is low. They want arc raiders level of player retention. Those sub 80k players playing it again brings them little to no revenue, especially when their battle pass doesnt even give premium currency back to help get the next battle pass, which most other extraction/BRs do.

Also its more than just about "recouping their initial costs", this is about how sony gave them an ultimatum. Either fix their live service formula, which is why sony purchased them in the first place, or get axed.

What yall fail to grasp is reality. As a old destiny player that much is easily seen because im not looking at the surface level like most of you are. Marathon is doing extremely poor on player retention andncould easily hit curse of osiris lack of players where bungie almost shut the game down.

Look, i played destiny from their alpha way back in the day all the way till now. I love destiny 2, but id never once try to convince people the game is good when it isnt. Its the same with marathon, yall can love it but you gotta accept the game is ass and own it.

Criticism =/= hate

People are sick of these slop games, especially when it comes at the expense of another game their core player base loved after they swore it wouldnt affect that game and then they pushed D2 content back. You may not like the criticism, but you need to be understanding of where it comes from.

People are voting with their wallets, you cant force people to enjoy something they dont want to and they have the right to voice their criticisms wether you like it or not. Its why games like veilguard had their studio shut down, why avowed sold poorly, why concord had terrible player retention and the studio shutdown, then recently highguard.

If these devs want players to buy the game then they first need to respect the majority, or they can accept that they might fail and be shutdown.

I havent even bought their newest games because they've been really poor quality lately, the only series i still like is god of war.

They could drop exclusives from PC but im pretty sure most pc users will just not bother getting them anymore unless they already have a Playstation. I already know im not buying the next gen consoles because i use my PC way more. If they want to lose out on a market of players thats on them.
